- Mrs. Bennie Juanell Beckham of Hemphill died Sunday October 23, 2016 at a local nursing home. She was born May 20, 1931 in Sabine County, Texas. Juanell was best known as a retail clerk at Hemphill Drug Co. and always greeted each customer with a smile and knew them all by name. There will be a visitation of family and friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Starr Funeral Home and her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday October 26, 2016 in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Cooper/Harris Cemetery. She is survived by her son Valton Beckham and his wife Sherry of Beaumont, brothers Wyman Tompkins and wife Louise of San Augustine, Jimmy Tompkins and wife Mary Ann of Hemphill, Tommy Tompkins and wife Barbara of Longview, Larry Tompkins and wife Annette of Lufkin, Jerry Tompkins and wife Ruby Jo of Milam, sister Helen Williams of Pineland, Grandson Bradley Beckham and wife Amy of Nacogdoches, Great Grandchildren Blake and Josie Beckham. As well as a host of Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Bennie Hamp and Abbie Tompkins and brother L.H. Tompkins.
