- Jessie "Sookie" Lee Harper Bird, 90, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 in Hillside Nursing Home and Rehab.
Jessie was born August 30, 1929 in Sabine County, Texas to Albert Lewis Harper and Avor McFarland Harper. She worked as a secretary for the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation for many years. She was a member of Harper's Chapel Methodist Church.
Jessie is survived by her son, Larry Jordan and wife, Janet, of Kerrville, Texas; daughter, Deborah Debes of Shreveport, Louisiana; brother, Glenn Harper and wife, Betty, of Hemphill; grandchildren, Heather Jordan, Joshua Jordan, Danyele Sanantonio, and Michael Debes; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.C. Bird; and brothers, Lanis Harper, Wendell Harper, and Atrell Harper.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home and she will be buried in Harper's Chapel Cemetery, Hemphill, Texas.
