      Ouida Bennette Woods

      Ouida Bennette Woods was born July 8, 1935 in Nacogdoches, the second daughter of Frank M. Woods and Ida Hines Woods. She passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009.

      Frank Woods dies when Ouida was nine months old and Ouida and her sister, Faye, were raised int he loving household of her mother, Ida and step-father, Hoy H. Byley.

      Ouida graduated from Hemphill High School in 1952 at the age of 16. Ouida then went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State College and began her career as a teacher in Port Neches at the age of 20 years.

      Ouida married Rudy John Bohac in 1968 and they moved to the Austin area where she lived the remainder of her life. Ouida was a teacher/counselor for 42 years, most of that time in the Austin ISD. She retired in 2002.

      Ouida and her sister, Faye were constant companions for the past 13 years, and they were best friends as well as sisters.

      Ouida was preceded in death by her father, Frank M. Woods; her mother, Ida Hines Woods Byley; her step-father, Hoy H. Byley; and her brother-in-law, Harvel Gene Walker.

      She is survived by her husband, Rudy John Bohac of Round Rock; her only son, R. J. Bohac of College Station; her sister, Faye Woods Walker of Hemphill; a nephew, William Walker and his wife, Kathy of Lufkin; and two great nephews, Christopher and Zachary Walker of Lufkin.

      Funeral services were held Monday, March 23 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Smith officiating. Interment followed at Hemphill Cemetery.

      Services were under the direction of Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill.
