J. Preston Alford, age 89 years old, died September 21, 1962 at his home in Hemphill, Texas. It was the sixtieth-eighth wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Alford.
Mr. Alford, a member of a prominent pioneer family of Sabine County, was a retired farmer. He was married on September 21, 1894 to Miss Ella Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Williams of the Isla community. Mr. and Mrs. Alford were both born within a mile of each other in the Isla community and lived there after their marriage until 1919. At that time they moved to Hemphill where they had lived ever since.
They had only one child, a daughter, Mrs. Carrie A. J. Neal of Hemphill. Grandsons William Neal of Pineland and G. A. Neal of Hemphill. Great grandsons, Tommy and Bobby Neal of Hemphill and Jimmy Neal of Pineland.
