Survivors include her daughters Carol Shelton and husband Mose of LaBelle, FL., Joyce Patch and husband [Francis] "Mick" of Broken Bow, NE., son Lynn Smith and wife Jean of Tobias, daughter-in-law Carol Smith of Atlantic, IA., 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maurice Smith, son Darryl Smith*, son-in-law Lyle Ahrens, sisters Olga and Irma and brother Melvin. Services will be on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the Tobias Community Church in Tobias with Joyce Heidelk officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury, on Tuesday from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the church in Tobias. A private family burial at the Tobias Cemetery will precede the 2:30 p.m. public service. Memorials are to the Tobias Rescue Unit and family's choice.
