- McLEMORE George Harvey McLemore, 87, died peacefully on 25 August 2008. He was born in Tupelo, MS and grew up in Mims, FL. Harvey graduated from Titusville High School in 1940, joined the Navy that summer, attained the rank of Aviation Chief, and maintained Navy aircraft throughout the Pacific in WWII. After WWII, Harvey returned to Mims, married his high school sweetheart, Sarah Frances Davis, and moved to Jacksonville, FL where he worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility (NARF) at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. He held a number of line and supervisory positions at NARF until his retirement in 1979. Harvey and Frances returned to Brevard County in October 2007. A humble man, Harvey was active as a Deacon at Lakeshore Baptist Church and served the Lord and church membership in a variety of positions. He loved wood working in his shop, playing golf, spending time at the cabin he built at Lake Hutchinson in Keystone Heights, FL and taking boating trips with friends along the inter-coastal waterway. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife, daughter, and granddaughters. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sarah Frances; daughter and son-in-law, Daphne and Joe McSwain; granddaughters, Sarah and Megan McSwain; his sister, Margaret Starrick; his brother, Jack McLemore; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be held at Lakeshore Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL at 2PM on Saturday, 30 August 2008. Visitation will be at 1PM and his funeral will be at 2PM. The church's address is 2363 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210; phone (904) 388-6578. Burial will follow funeral service at Jacksonville Memory Gardens of Orange Park, FL. A memorial service will be held at Cedar Creek Life Center, 4279 Judith Ave, Merritt Island, FL 32953, (321) 454-7768 in the near future.
