- Possibly the son of Abner McLemore (b. 1785, NC), who lived in Lawrence County, Alabama at the time of the 1830 and 1840 census? Abner later moved to Marion County, Alabama, and late still to Mississippi. Both Abner and William reported themselves as shoemakers at the time of the 1860 federal census.
Rosemary Hollis indicates that his mother's first name was Lucinda.
William and both his wives are said to be buried in unmarked graves at the McLemore Cemetery in Lawrence County, Alabama.
