Immediately after their marriage, John and Marie moved to Hayes County to homestead. After proving their land, they moved to Saline county, where they farmed for eight years, and then to Fillmore County, where they farmed for an additional 26 years until their retirement. (Milligan, p 255).

- Lula and Frank farmed on the BIBA farm four miles west of Milligan after their marriage. They later moved to Grandma HAVEL's farm, where their two daughters were born. In early 1927, they farmed on Grandpa CUDLY's land. In 1952, Frank began employment with the KASSIK Milling Company, where he remained employed until 1968. (Milligan, p 293).
