- DONALD HENDRICK FINKBEINER
85, lifelong resident of Cass City, died Sunday, April 24, 2022 in Huron County Medical Care Facility of Bad Axe. He was born January 23, 1937 in Dearborn to Walter and Ruth (Hendrick) Finkbeiner. He married the love of his life, Judith Ann Helwig on October 11, 1958 in Judy's childhood home in Cass City.
Don attended Cass City High School and worked many different jobs, usually two at a time. He worked for the family business, Finkbeiner Plumbing and Heating and several security jobs for Thunder Road Speedway. Don worked side by side with the Secret Service while they prepared for President Nixon's visit to Cass City. He also held two certificates as an auxiliary police officer for Cass City and Gagetown. Don served as a volunteer with the Elkland Township Fire Department for almost forty years. He earned the rank of lieutenant and was also an instructor. Don was a certified Emergency Medical Technician and worked with various ambulance companies over the years. He was very talented artist, sketching with a fine tip ball point pen and coloring pencils. Don owned and operated Don's Gun Shop, where he hand carved beautiful engravings and checking on gun stocks. He also enjoyed hunting and traveling, but he was most proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom he loved very much.
Don is survived by his children: Susan (Bill) LaBuhn of Bad Axe, Sally (Elliot) Cooper of Cottonwood Heights, UT, Sharon Finkbeiner of Grand Rapids, Jon (Rosemary) Finkbeiner of Wilmot, James (Tina) Finkbeiner of Cass City, Donald L. (Candy) Finkbeiner of Cass City; grandchildren: Kenny ( Kendra) Kady, Jeremy (Jessica) Kady, Kayla (Drew) Miros, Tim Finkbeiner, Ethan Finkbeiner, Ella Finkbeiner, Henry Cooper; great grandchildren: Maeson, Colten, Kloei, Braylon, Shyann, Avah; many relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy; children: Jeff Finkbeiner, Dawn Finkbeiner, Clark Finkbeiner.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Memorials may be made to Elkland Township Fire Department. Family and friends may share memories, prayers, and photos at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
