Ed Matejovsky, Former Resident, Dies in Oregon
Edward W. Matejovsky was born to Rosalie and Joseph Matejovsky in Milligan, Neb. on October 16, 1900 and passed away in Portland, Oregon on April 14, 1977.
He grew to manhood in the Milligan and Geneva vicinities, graduating from Geneva High School and the Peru State Teachers college.
He taught school in southern Nebraska and was superintendant of schools at Milligan for many years. Then he farmed in Idaho for a few years.
In 1941 he went to work in the defense plants in Omaha. After World War II ended he returned to teaching. Then he took up the linotype trade and worked for weekly newspapers in Idaho and South Dakota.
In June of 1967, he retired and moved to Portland, Ore.
Ed became seriously ill in December of 1976. He passed into a coma on April 2 from which he never recovered.
He was survived by a sister, Agnes of Springfield, Mo. On April 22, she also passed away.
On Ed's request he was cremated and his ashes were placed to rest in the Park Hill cemetery, Vancouver, Washington, near his sister Estelle Janda Posvar.

- Sharon Nemeth emailed that there was a marriage license for Rousy Janda (34 (sic)) and Joseph Matejovsky (45) = 9 Mar 1895. Her parents were listed as Vencel Hranac and Mary Bursova. Witnesses were John Zajic, Anton Zajic, Louis Zajic, and Victor Hranac.
They were the parents of Edward, Stanley and Agnes, born in Fillmore County. (Milligan, p 315).
