Miss Maier dies Friday
Laura Maguerite Maier, 82, a lifelong resident of Cass City, died Friday at her home.
She was born March 21, 1900, in Cass City, the daughter of Jacob and Fanny Striffler Maier. Miss Maier's family originated and operated a photography shop and a meat business in Cass City that covered a span of nearly 100 years.
Miss Maier was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Cass City, the United Methodist Women and the Cass City Art Club.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Fern Maier of Cass City, and one cousin, Ward Benkelman, also of Cass City. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Little's Funeral Home, Cass City, with Rev. P. Thomas Wachterhauser of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Cass City officiating.
Burial was in Elkland Township Cemetery.

Laura Maier was one of the cousins of BonnieMargaret Jacobs who searched their Bibles and records and picture collections to provide information for her 1981 manuscipt about the history of the Benkelman family.
