Glendon "Cotton" Bennett, 79, of Jasper died Thursday, August 23, 2012, at a Beaumont hospital.
Cotton was born September 24, 1932, in Simpson, Louisiana, to Elmer and Gertie Bennett. He lived in Simpson for 23 years and moved to Beaumont, where he drove a city bus. He moved to Jasper in 1968 and worked as a truck driver for Visador, Louisiana Pacific, McWaters Trucking, G.P. Burrous, and Fleetwood, where he retired at the age of 75 in 2007. Cotton loved life, he loved hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Lindsey Craig Bennett of Jasper; sons, Glendon "Cooter" Bennett and wife Stacey Bennett of Jasper, Terry Craig and wife Beverly Craig of Bronson, James Craig and wife Dixie Craig of Jasper, Steven Craig and wife Tammy Craig of Jasper, Nathan Bennett and wife Cathy Bennett of Bon Wier, and Lonnie Bennett of Michigan; daughters, Glenda "Punkin" Coxen and husband Aaron Coxen of Jasper, Tina Ford and husband Wyndell Ford of Bronson, Brenda Sharp of Beaumont, and Sharon Terrell and husband B. Terrell of Beaumont; sisters, Joyce Parker of Simpson, and Janet Landrey and husband Carroll Landrey of Nederland; 22 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 5:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Forest Oaks Chapel on Hwy. 190 in Jasper.
