- Bertie Grace Scott, 93, of Hemphill, Texas died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at a local nursing home. Mrs. Scott was born July 25, 1923 in Sabine County to Wesley and Neddy Love McDaniel. She worked in the laundry service back in the old days when they used wringer washing machines and she loved to ride her "Huffy" bicycle around town.
She is survived by her sons, James Erwin and wife, Linda of Hemphill, Texas, Chester Erwin of Houston, Texas, Nathan Scott and wife, Terri, of Huntington, Texas and Roy Erwin and wife, Carlyon, of Huntington, Texas. Also, nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Scott will be Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Hemphill Cemetery.
