Notes |
- Diane McLemore Kennedy emailed, in May 2012, that " If I remember my granddaddy's stories correctly, he had 16 or 18 siblings. Robert left home at age 12 or 13 because he didn't like working on the farm in Mississippi. He traveled (on foot) from Mississippi to Texas. He was a carpenter by trade. I know Robert was in the military during WWI. The McLemore name did not go past my dad's generation. My dad had 4 daughters and his brother had one son that died without any offspring." Diane instead shows his year of birth as 1892.
Melba Gene McLemore notes that his registration for the Draft During WWI shows him as a carpenter for Shaw Construction Company in Sweetwater, Texas.
