  Notes	Ophelia Zeigler Eddings, aged 88, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, in Hemphill, Texas. She was born on March 23, 1936, in San Augustine County, Texas, to Cecil "Doc" Zeigler and Ester Mae Harvey Zeigler. Ophelia was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and attended school in Bronson, Texas, before graduating from Hemphill High School. She began her career working at Parker's Drug Store at the Soda Fountain and later served as a paraprofessional for Hemphill ISD until her retirement. Beyond her professional life, she was a dedicated wife and mother, having married Arvie Gene Eddings, with whom she shared 66 loving years. Ophelia enjoyed cooking but particularly enjoyed conversing over the phone with old classmates and friends. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, in whom she took great pride concerning their education and careers. Ophelia is survived by her husband, Arvie Gene Eddings; sons, Don Eddings and his wife, Sherri and David Eddings and his wife, Denise, all of Hemphill; daughter, Susan Smith and her husband, Stuart "Jeb" Smith, of Milam; and sister, Dorothy Williams and her husband, Leroy, of Hemphill. She was a proud grandmother to Devin Eddings and his wife, Aly, of China Spring, Danielle Eddings of Tyler, Garrett Smith and his wife, Kali, of Lufkin and Aaron Eddings and his wife, Jordyn of Hemphill, and a great-grandmother to Jack, Ava, Luke, Landry, and one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Ester Zeigler, her brother, Lonnie Zeigler, and her cousin who was like a sister to her, Billie Sue Chambers Bass. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Floyd Wright and Bro. A. J. Wood, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held prior to service from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Little Flock Cemetery, where Devin Eddings, Garrett Smith, Aaron Eddings, Randall Williams, Charles Woods, and Kyle Butler will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Little Flock Cemetery, P.O. Box 452, Pineland, Texas 75968, in memory of Ophelia. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
