  Notes	Sandra Meier shows him as the son of Andrew FREEMAN and Polly SIMPKINS. After Olive died, Joseph remarried. At the time of the 1900 census, Joseph was living with his second wife, Lavernia, in Newton County Texas, along with Arrilla, John and Alice, all born to he and Olive, and with his four children by Lavernia, Prentice, Myrtle, Jesse and Maud. The census indicates they married circa 1891, and that Lavernia was the mother of 4 children, all of whom were still living. An 18 year old Gilbert HANY, listed as a boarder, was living with them as well. Perhaps he was a brother of Lavernia's.
