- Lloyd Weldon Conn, 88, of Pineland, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, in Hemphill, Texas.
Lloyd was born July 11, 1932 in Mayflower, Texas where he grew up. He married his wife, Jean, on July 9, 1958 and they made their home and raised their family in Pineland, Texas. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers where he worked as a Reservoir Ranger on Lake Sam Rayburn.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Jean Conn; his parents, Martin and Effie (Tilley) Conn; and his brothers D.L., Frank, Cecil, and Elray Conn.
Lloyd is survived by his daughters, Sandra Pack and husband, Don, of Pineland, Texas and Peggy Nash and husband, Ted, of Terre Haute, Indiana; his son, Billy Conn of Hemphill, Texas; his grandchildren, Brad Cox, Dustin Conn, Brandon Conn, Cassie Vansickle Lowery, Matthew Vansickle, and Dakota Pack; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was also an "adopted" Pappy to many young people in the area.
Lloyd was a member of the Littleton Fowler Masonic Lodge. He served many offices during his 61 years as a Mason, including District Deputy Grand Master.
He was a member of the Eastern Star Bronson Lodge before merging with Hemphill Lodge 375 and also a long-time member of the Shriners. He had been a long-time Board member of the Sabine County 4-H and served on the Pineland City Council.
Visitation for Lloyd will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Van Lowe and Bro. David Ebarb officiating.
Masonic Rites and burial will follow services in Gravel Hill Cemetery with Clint Conn, Steve Conn, Mike Dillard, Dakota Pack, Josh Newcomb, and Paul Newcomb serving as pallbearers.
