      Clint Smith

      L. C. "Clint" Smith, 71, of Hemphill died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, at his residence on Italy Road.

      Born March 14, 1924, in Sabine County as a son of the late Gus and Ola (Wright) Smith, he was a lifelong area resident. Smith was a Baptist and a mechanice at Coast to Coast.

      Suvivors: sisters, Gussie Bass of Hemphill, Evon Tappan of Diana, and Eva Jean Thain and Lauree Baker, both of Houston; brother, R. E. "Rob" Smith of Hemphill.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Smith.

      Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Wendell Ferguson officiating. Interment followed at Rosevine Cemetery in Rosevine.
