Obituary
Eleanor Emma Matthies (May 22, 1925 - November 28, 2011)
Services for Eleanor will be Friday December 2, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home - Kotas Chapel in Milligan, Nebraska. Interment will be in the Ohiowa Public Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday at 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel in Milligan. Memorials are in care of the family in lieu of flowers. Eleanor Emma Matthies was born on May 22, 1925 on a farm east of Geneva to Frank and Emma (Suda) Kassik. She passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital on November 28, 2011 at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 6 days.
She graduated from Milligan High School in 1943 and then taught for a short time at area country schools. She married Louis H. Matthies Sr. on July 13, 1963 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Ohiowa. He passed away in 1979. To this marriage 4 children were born. They lived on a farm east of Ohiowa.
She moved to the Villa in Milligan and was currently living in the Exeter Care Center. She was a 44 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and member of the Milligan and Geneva Senior Citizens. Eleanor cooked at area cafes until her retirement in 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Emma Kassik, husband Louis Matthies Sr. and infant daughter Joy Marie. She is survived by her daughter, Lorie Pinkham and husband Scott of Minden, Louis (Butch) Matthies and wife Sherrie of Geneva and Robert (Bob) and wife Janet of Hastings; grandchildren Christopher, Joshua, Callie, Sophie and Ian Pinkham of Minden;Alexander and Catherine Matthies and Erick and Zackary Ackland of Geneva and Lauren and Andrew Matthies of Hastings; brothers Donald F. Kassik and wife Nori of Lawton Ok., Frank Kassik and wife Margaret and Robert Kassik and wife Marjorie all of Milligan.
