Notes |
- The son of Jacob KASAK and Katherine KALNY. He came to Milligan around 1870, with his two children, John and Barbara. There is no proof his wife came with them. If she died here, she would have been buried in the Kasak cemetery that has no markers. He homesteaded the E 1/2 SW 1/4 of Section 30 in Turkey Creek Township of Saline County. This tract of land was sold to his daughter, Barbara KOLAR, after his death. He filed a second homestead, the W 1/2 SW 1/4 of Section 30 in Turkey Creek Township, and contracted as well for the E 1/2 SW 1/4 of Liberty Township in Fillmore County. His son, John Jr., took over this land after his father's death. He eventually gave the land to his son, Peter KASAK. His obituary states he dropped dead about three-quarters of a mile from his home when he started out for cattle. (Milligan, p 323).
