- The son of John and Barbara HALAMA. He sailed from Bremen on the German ship, Prinz Frederich Wilhelm, land in the United States on April 12, 1910. He came to the farm of John HROMADKA where he worked as a farm hand near Milligan. In 1912, he made arrangements to send for his family: wife, Antonie and her mother, Josefa HLAVSA, and his sons, James, Mike and John. The left Bremen on the German ship Breslav and landed in Baltimore, Maryland the day the Titanic sank. Vaclav was a hard worker, and was employed as a Mason. He became ill in 1918, and spent the rest of his life in a hospital. At the time of the 1930 Federal census, a James Halama was listed as residing in a hospital in Hastings.
