Clare E. Glandon, 88, Fort Myers, Fla., died Friday (7/15/05) at Shell Point. Born: Norden (11/22/16), son of Clarence and Mary Glandon and a grandson of Allen Elliott, an early state legislator. A resident of Fort Myers since 1982, he formerly lived in St. Louis.
Mr. Glandon was raised on farms in central Nebraska and was the state president of Future Farmers of America. He graduated from the University of Nebraska, where he met his wife, Joyce, and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho and the dairy judging team. Employed for 43 years by Pet Milk Co. of St. Louis, retiring as a vice president. An Army veteran, he served during World War II in the Pacific, attaining the rank of captain and earned three battle stars and the Bronze Star. Clare was active in the various communities where he lived. He and his wife are very proud that all three of their children graduated from Northwestern University and have advanced degrees.
Survivors: his beloved wife of 62 years, Joyce (Kovanda); his precious children, Virginia (George) Nugent, Vestal, N.Y., Judith (Robert, deceased) Mc Lachlin, Chesterfield, Mo., Robert (Victoria) Glandon, Ridgefield, Conn.; his six dear grandchildren, five great grandchildren and his brother, James, Kearney.
Memorial service: 10 a.m. Nov. 5, Faith United Methodist Church, 15690 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33908. In lieu of flowers, memorials: church. Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Fort Myers.
