  Notes	Joel Stinnett, nephew of Samuel Marshall, is shown as an 1836 settler in Lewis county in Township 60, Range 7. Samuel was in Range 6 so Joel would have lived just a short distance farther west. The Stinnett's appear in the 1840 census but moved on to Texas in the mid-1840's where he had the first grist mill in the state. A grandson founded the town of Stinnett, Texas. Joel was the son of LINDSEY & NANCY (MARSHALL) STINNETT in Bedford County, Virginia. Nancy was an older sister of Samuel Marshall. (Ralph Marshall, p 30).

  	Ralph also notes that Thomas is shown as a surety on (the) marriage record of his daughter Nancy. (Ralph Marshall, p 16). Census records would indicate that 11 sons and 2 daughters were born to this union by 1830. Nancy and Lindsey are both shown as age 67 in the Bedford County census of 1850. Bedford county marriage records found in the American Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy list the marriages of eight of the sons of Lindsey Stinnett. Son Wyatt was married in Kentucky. (Ralph Marshall, p 24).
