John Cash was the son of Benjamin Cash and Nancy Susannah Savage of Amherst Co., VA. He m/1 Sarah (Sally) Wortham on 10 Nov. 1795 in Amherst Co., VA. He m/2 Zelpha/Zelphia Strickland 26 July 1807 and m/3 Sarah Elizabeth Black 22 Jan. 1841.

He and his two wives are buried in the Cash family cemetery,some children and their spouses are also buried there. Thecemetery is eight miles north of Athens, Ga., on CarnesvilleRoad, about one and half miles east of Center, Ga., and three miles from the Pittman family cemetery. John enlisted at age 16 in Capt. Franklin's troops under Samuel Cabell, Amherst Co. Va. where he served in the Revolution. He moved to Jackson Co. Ga.about 1798 {William C. Stewart. Gone to Georgia: Jackson &Gwinnett Counties & Their Neighbors in the Western Migration}.John was on the 1820-40 Jackson Co. Censuses. He is buried inthe Cash cemetery, located 8 miles north of Athens, Ga. on Carnesville Rd., 1 and 1/2 miles east of Center, Ga. He may be found in the Ga. land lottery records. John left a will in Jackson Co. Ga. Will Book A:271. Written 9 October 1843. Probated 12 Jan 1846. He named his daughter, Bethany Strickland and her husband Samuel Strickland, his son, George B. Cash, son Benjamin W. Cash, son Joel F. Cash, Joel's daughter, Martha Cash, daughter, Polly McQuire and son-in-lawThomas McGuire, daughter Nancy Tuck and son-in-law, John Tuck, son John Cash.
