- WILLIAM E. SMITH William Elmer Smith, 78, Kansas City, Kan., died March 4, 1992, in Medicalodge-South, Kansas City, Kan. He was a lifelong Kansas City, Kan., resident. Mr. Smith worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 41 years, retiring as a bridge and building foreman in 1975. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of the Way Employees. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas. He was past master of the Roger E. Sherman Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lena M. Smith of the home: a son, Rick Smith, Shawnee; two daughters, Marilyn Walters, Kansas City, and Carolyn Morasch, Overland Park; two brothers, Harvey R. Smith, Basehor in Leavenworth County, and James W. Smith, Kansas City; a sister, Louise Owings, Sheridan, Wyo.; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Services will be at 10 am Saturday at the Porter Chapel; burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggest contributions to the church.
