  Notes	Biography from FindAGrave Edwin was a son of Phineas & Electa (Marsh) Smith. He moved, with his parents, from Whately, Massachusetts, to Monroe county, New York, between 1816 and 1820. He married, about 1838, Abbie Jane Dole, and they had two children: Phineas Munson Smith (b. 1839) and Georgia Ann Smith (b. c1841; d. young). Abbie died in 1841. About 1854 Edwin married Achsa A. Sanford, and they had one child: Edwin P. Smith (b. 1855). Achsa died in 1857. Edwin served as a bugler for Company B, 8th New York Cavalry, from Oct. 1861 until Apr. 1862. After the war he moved to Michigan, settling eventually in Kalamazoo, where he worked as a butcher. He died in 1904 at the age of 88.
