- Lorena was wounded in a gunfight in the streets of Hemphill, Sabine Co., Texas on 27 February 1930 that killed her husband Napoleon Mansley "Pole" Halbert. The others shooting were Kirby and Rance Russell. The families had trouble over "farm matters".
