Noble p. 10 Sam (Tex) McDaniel, of San Augustine, rode a steer named Barker all the way from Texas to New York. He and the 1200 pound steer then flew from New York to Washington, D.C. where President Franklin D. Roosevelt congratulated. him. Note: It appears, but has not been verified, that the Sam McDaniel mentioned above is the same person as the Sam McDaniel who is the son of William Frazier McDaniel and Sarah Pinkney Hargroves.
