Funeral services for Viola Powell Ellis, 90 of Brookeland, will be 10:00am Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, with burial to follow at Brookeland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00pm Monday, August 13th, at the funeral home.
Viola passed away August 11th at her residence. A native & lifelong resident of Brookeland, she enjoyed sewing, gardening and growing flowers. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Travis M. Ellis, Jr. of Brookeland; daughter Nora Ellis Parsons of Pineland; brother Hollis Powell of Brookeland; two grandchildren, Stacy & husband Steven, and Amanda & husband Jerry; and five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Tara, Hannah, Brodey & Brantley. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin & Molly Lowe Powell; four brothers, Elbert, Wilburn, Harvey & Lincoln; and one sister, Maddie Roberts. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
