- The couple came to American in 1880, arriving in Baltimore, heading west via Chicago to Exeter. They were met by Frank and Anton Svec. After first working as farm hands for others, they purchased the eighty acres that great grandson Raymond Capek lives on today. The Capek's came to this country with the Herynk family who purchased eighty acres adjoining them. (Milligan, 237).

- They were neighbors growing up, living only half a mile apart. Both attended rural school in District #43. After their marriage, Anton and Agnes took over the farm where the senior Capeks had lived. They also raised chickens and had a large garden and orchard. After retiring in 1959, their son Anton Jr moved onto the home place. (Milligan, pp 232-233).
