Notes |
- John W. Clark writes that "Isaac D. Clark was b. ca 1814, son of William Clark and Elizabeth Isaacs Clark. He m. Ann D. he is shown on the 1835 census of Texas in Sabine District. He is not shown on the 1850 tax list of Texas. The following records found in the San Augustine Co. courthouse would indicate that Isaac's wife was named Cartwright:
Vol. I, p. 35-Sept 5, 1853. Isaac D. Clark and wife Ann D. Clark sold for $622.23 land next to Phillip A. Sublett formerly owned by John Cartwright deceased. Sold also Frank a negro slave 28 or 30 years of age.
Vol. 1, p 238 - Nov. 27, 1854. Isaac D. Clark and Ann D. Clark of Angelina County sold to Samuel Wilson a part of John Cartwright tract adjoining estate of Phillip A. Sublett.
The above record would indicate that Isaac and wife Ann were living in Angelina County in 1854. They are not listed on the 1850 census of either San Augustine of Angelina County. Nothing more has been found on this family."
Julie Fotenot posted to the Texas Milam County list on Rootsweb that she found them in 1850 on the Milam County, Texas census.
