  Notes	Clinton (OK) Daily News Tuesday, June 26, 2007 Gertie Rennels services set Funeral services for Hammon, OK, native Gertie Rennels, 87, will be held Wednesday June 27, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. from the A.G. Creach High School Auditorium in Hammon, OK with Pastor Ridge Lamar and Dick Rennels officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery of Hammon, OK, under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City, OK. Gertie Mae Rennels was born March 22,1920 in Purcell, OK, to Rev. J.W. Mooney and Kittie (Miller) Mooney, and passed away Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, OK. She moved with her family to the Hammon, OK area in 1925, where her father founded the Hammon Pentecostal Holiness Church. She graduated from Hammon High School in 1939. She was married to Wade Warren Rennels on March 24, 1940, in Carpenter, OK, and they had two sons, Ronnie and Danny. She lived in the Hammon area until the time of her death. After completing LPN school, she was employed by the Elk City Community Hospital, and taught nursing courses at the Burns Flat Vo-Tech; however she is best remembered as serving as the Hammon School nurse for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of the First Love Christian Fellowship Church in Elk City. She dedicated her life to the Lord, and being a servant to all. After she retired, she volunteered many hours for hospice and made countless jean quilts for many people. (Courtesy of Lynell Gentry Cordell)
