Her name at birth was shown as Charlotte Lorette KAMM, and her date of birth was listed as November 17, 1913, and it showed she was born in N. Buena Vista, Clayton County, Iowa to Joseph KAMM and Mary MACHELLECK (sic). Ken Kamm also supplied this obituary, which ran in the DUBUQUE TELEGRAPH-HERALD of Monday, February 10, 1997: Mrs. Frank K. Ehlers, 83, of Luther Manor Nursing Home, formerly of 540 Kaufmann Ave., died at 2:23 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, at Luther Manor. Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. Mrs. Ehlers formerly worked at Bethany Home for a while. She then became a full time wife and homemaker. She was born on Nov. 17, 1913 in North Buena Vista, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Machalik) Kamm. She married Frank K. Ehlers on May 17, 1932 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Buena Vista. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish and was president of the Resident's Council at Luther Manor. Charlotte was known as an avid reader. She enjoyed doing needlework, working crossword puzzles and playing euchre and bingo. Charlotte enjoyed being with her family and especially her grandchildre Surviving are two sons, Jerome F (Norma) Ehlers and Dale J. Ehlers, both of Dubuque, 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank K. Ehlers, on September 24, 1983; and an infant great-granddaughter; Frances Ehlers; and an infant sister, Dorothy Kamm. A Charlotte L. Ehlers Memorial Fund has been established.
