- At the time of the 1880 census, Annie, and her younger sister Elia, were both shown as boarders and pupils at a school in St. Louis, Missouri. Annie was shown as 17, born in Texas, and Elia, F, was shown as 14, also born in Texas. The school was on Cass Avenue and Visitation Convent.
This was likely the Visitation Academy of St. Louis, a private all-girls Roman Catholic High School, established in Kaskaskia, Illinois in 1833, and that moved to St. Louis in 1844.
