When he was young, James probably lived with his mother and stepfather, or with his eldest brother Richard at the plantation. He left home by about 1687, and moved some 21 miles west of Pace's Paines, where he came in contact with the Lowe family of Bristol Parish. He married Elizabeth Lowe, daughter of Mr. William Lowe. The young family lived in Charles City County, north of the James River, and returned to live south of the river in 1712 when they returned to Prince George County. In 1715, James purchased 100 acres in Westopher Parish, Prince George County, from William Epes, which had formerly belonged to Caesar Walpool.
In the northern part of Brunswik was the parish of St. Andrews. Int he vestry book of the parish is a record of a James Pace who served the parish as sexton from October 6, 1732 until October 11, 1735. He was paid for his services in tobacco, the usual form of payment from a church. The parish sexton was the caretaker of the church building and the cemetery, and also charged with the duty of recording all deaths in the parish. This was an occupation usually endowed upon an older man. He was, at this time, about 68 years of age. As before this is the one and only time he is mentioned in the records of the county. Howard does not believe it improbable that James died possessed of no valuable property, such as land or slaves but only household items and any tools of his trade. This would mean there would not be an necessity to make a will, or to administer an estate. Any items still possessed at the time of his death would have been absorbed into the family without going through the legal process. This is why nothing has ever been found concerning him after the year 1735.
James and Elizabeth had four sons that are known, Richard, George, James and Solomon. They may have had daughters also, but nothing has been discovered concerning them, and may never be.

John Schwegler's Burial
The last tributed of respect was give to the late John Schwegler last Saturday afternoon at the Evangelical church, where a simple but impressive service was conducted by the pastor, F. Klump, who was assisted by Rev. G.J. Kirn, presiding elder of Flint District.
The fact that the grim reaper Death is fast thinning out the male ranks in the local Evangelical society made an unusual impression during the funeral service of Mr. Schwegler. His death was caused by typhoid pneumonia and the same composure which characterized his life was uppermost during the days of suffering and dissolution. John Schwegler was born in Germany in the year 1834. At the age of 20 he immigrated to this country and resided for many years in the state of New York. In 1881 he came to Cass City where he has lived ever since. Mr. Schwegler was highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was a man of few words but ever conscientious and honorable in all his dealings. He leaves a widow, one sister and many other relatives.

When Jose registered for the World War II Draft, he listed his DOB as March 19, 1909 in Texas, and the person who will always know his address was shown as his wife, Mrs. Jessie Contreras. Their address was Box 1041, Beeville, Texas, and his employer was Howard Bros of Beeville. He listed his full name as Jose Garza Contreras, but went by Joe.
In 1930, a Jose Contrera, age 21, was living on Blanconia Road in Bee, Texas, with Antonio and Louise Contreras...parents of Henrique (age 3) and Elida (newborn). He was listed as a brother of Antonio. Other siblings of Antonio's, sharing their home, were Theodora (32), Pablo (30), Louisa (28), Domingo (25), and Francisco (21). All of Antonio's siblings were working on his farm.
As Antonio's draft registration for World War II, done in Bee County, show his parents as Juan Manuel Contreras and Domencia Garza, it is assumed these are the parents of Jose Garza Contreras as well. An 1999 obituary of Eloisa Contreras Hernandez, also of Beeville and born around 1900, also show her as a daughter of Juan Manuel and Demenica Contreras.

When she was about 72 years old, S.A.E. Boyette was granted a pension based on her husband's service in the Confederate States army. In this pension application, she indicated that she had lived in Jasper County for about 50 years. On the pension application she reported that the only property she owned was 130 acres of land and six cows, and that she needed the pension as a means of subsistence. As the application was signed with her mark, it appears that she also was unable to read or write. Her tomstone indicates she lived to age 70.
Ruby Boyett Burkett wrote that "we don't actually know when the McLemore family purchased it (the old Boyett homestead), but we feel surthe first McLemore owners were John and Sara Ann Boyett McLemore. She was Noah Boyetts youngest whole sister so the place was still partly in the Boyett family and so it happened that the McLemores began to bury their dead in the Boyett cemetery but renamed it the McLemore Cemetery. One of the McLemore relatives told us it had always been the McLemore cemetery but of course we know that is not the case. We know, for a fact, that one more Boyett was buried in the cemetery. I don't know the date of the last funeral but have a first person account of the funeral. My Aunt Lula Love Boyett, wife of Noah Jackson Boyett told me this story. On a cold winter day the youngest daughter of Noah and Susan was laid to rest in the Boyett Cemetery. She was Sarah Ann "Sallie" Bevil. Aunt Lula said by the time the graveside service had concluded they were about frozen so the McLemore family invited them in to get warm before they left to return to their homes. I seem to recall Aunt Lula saying the McLemores also served them refreshments? I would imagine they were served hot coffee and probably a desert.
Several generations of the family lived in the home before it was finally replaced with a new, more modern home. At the time I went there to visit, Lee and Othalia McLemore were living there...... He then let me borrow pictures of the original home to bring to Beaumont to have printed and enlarged. I later returned the originals, along with enlargements and he was thrilled." | Boyett, Sarah Ann E. (I1994)

Located in the Second District on LL 224 on Moreland-Gill Road in a pasture across the road from Lois Argroves home. The cemetery is grown up in briars, but the wrought-iron fence is still intact with gate. Read by Robbie Strickland, Audrey Strickland, and Priscilla Turner.
Linda Fuller of Cleveland, Texas shared the following email that she received from John Beattie Fuller with me:
"I understand your interest in connecting James Anderson FULLER directly to the Ezekiel FULLER, Isle of Wight Co VA, family line. I have not been able to yet establish his father's identity. From the data that we do have we can make some guesses about John Anderson. We do know that he married Fanny BAILEY on 28 Dec 1818 in Warren Co GA. In that Warren county lies in the eastern part of GA and very near Columbia, Richmond, and Wilkes Cos. we do know the FULLER families that first settled in these GA Cos. There is not only one New England FULLER family. One of whom was John Fuller, son of Ezekiel, as well as John FULLER, Jr. Grandson of Ezekiel, along with a couple of other sons of John Sr. One proven and one not proven. So we can say that probably James Anderson was either from the New England line of Elijah or VA line of Ezekiel with some degree of probability.
In that most of the FULLER's identified in Meriwether Co GA were from Ezekiel's line by 1850 while Elijah's line went to Greene Co GA and then on to Perry Co AL. one could assume that James Anderson must have been of Ezekiel's line for that apparently is where he died in 1853. I would guess the reason for the Warren Co GA marriage is based upon Fanny BAILEY's home of residence at the time and that James Anderson resided in one of the adjoining GA counties.
Something else that is quite interesting to note within James Anderson's family line. That is, a son named William Alexander FULLER. Not an altogether odd given name, but this is exactly the same given name that appears in John FULLER, son of Ezekiel, family line. Oh by he way, in the event that you do not already know, Ezekiel's son, John srved during the Amer Rev while he was over 60 years of age and his on, John Jr. also served in the Amer Rev. John Sr. lived to be 106 and his son Jr. over 98 years old.
Overlooking John Fuller Sr. for the moment, let's look at John Jr's Sheet. I see he has a son James born about 1795 in Columbia ? GA who married a Nancy BAILEY in GA about 1820. These dates, I must add, are based upon each's possible age and it is for that reason we have the "ca" noted. The seventh child of this family is a William Alexander FULLER b. 17 Feb 1810 Columbia Co GA, who would be a younger brother to James.
Now looking at James Anderson FULLER's FGS I have him born in 1790 (data from census no doubt) in Warren Co ? GA (because of marriage data no doubt). His marriage to Fanny BAILEY 28 Dec 1818 in Warren Co GA is a matter of record. His second child is a William Alexander Fuller born 1826 Meriwether Co GA. Could he have named his son after his own younger brother? I think so. Within his notes I see that he was living in Dekalb Co GA at the time of his 1827 GA Land Lottery entry. Interestingly, John FULLER Jr. was also within the same area where he remained. Why did James Anderson leave the area where his father's family resided? Because of James' Meriwether Co GA land lottery? It was not soley because he had so many FULLER relatives there later, for some of them had not yet arrived in that GA county from SC."
He goes on to state that although he has no proof, he strongly suspects that James Anderson FULLER's father was John Fuller Jr., grandson of Ezekiel FULLER of Isle of Wight Co. VA.

White & Toole, "Sabine County Historical Sketches and Genealogical Records", pages 46 and 47 show that "In 1786, Absalom McD. made his will naming wife Bartha and sons, WILLIAM, Hiram and Jehiel. Hiram also moved to Georgia about 1798. Absalom's estate was on the Savanah River. His father, James had rec'd 640 A. plus 756 A. in 1796. In 1813, Alexander McD., Wm. McD. acting as his attorney, sold over 1000 acres of land to Moses Swearingen. Much of the information about the family of William and Dosha McDaniel was taken from a letter rec'd by the late Lewis McD. of Sabine County from a cousin in Alabama, in 1924. The letter was from John Matheny. He obviously copied if from the family Bible, for most of these lines have been researched from then until present, and they have checked out to be correct."

White and Toole refer to him as Daniel Cordray, however on the 1870 Sabine County census he is listed as David, but as Daniel in 1880. His first wife died in 1878 (according to her headstone at the Cordray Cemetery), and he is listed with his second wife, Martha, age 44, born ca 1836 in Alabama, at the time of the 1880 census.
Could he have married third Dollie Wilson, sometime prior to 1884?
Dollie Cordray, a widow, age 33, can be found in the 1900 Sabine County, Texas Census with three minor children. The Texas Death certificate of the eldest son of the widowed Dollie Wilson Cordray, namely Cleveland Cordray, lists his father as Dan Cordray. Census records for the children show that their father was born in Texas, however, versus Georgia.
This does not appear likely, as at the time of the 1900 Sabine County, Texas census, Daniel and his second wife, Martha appear together.
Additionally, his widow, Mrs. Martha Cordray applied for a Civil War pension as the widow of D. C. Cordray on 8 May 1915 in Sabine County. She indicated that she married him on 10 Oct 1878 in Sabine County. Martha further indicated she was age 82, and was born in Dallas County, Alabama. having resided in Texas for 42 years. Her late husband, Daniel C. Cordray, was shown as dying on 30 Aug 1905. He was shown to have served the C.S.A. in the state of Georgia, for a period of five months, being discharged in April 1865. He was in the Infantry, Company A, Regiment 29.
On the Williams-McNaughten Tree at Ancestry.com, he is shown as the Uncle of Mary Emma Cordray McGown (1885-1973), her father John Lawrence Cordray also being a son of Jonathan Cordray and Elizabeth Tomlinson. He is likely related to her in some other fashion, perhaps a cousin, as Georgia Marriage records on Ancestry.com show that Elizabeth Tomlinson and Jonathan Cordray were not married until 2 Apr 1846 in Muscogee County, Georgia, eight years after Daniel was born. DM Veitch instead shows him as a son of Daniel and Celia Cordray of Muscogee County, Georgia. Veitch shows that his second wife was Martha Williams Honeycutt, a widow, no issue by Daniel. | Cordray, Daniel C. (I14269)
