| Connell, Corwin C. Edinburg-Corwin C. Connell "CC" was born January 4, 1930 in George West, Texas and passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Comfort House in McAllen.He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. P.S. and Ruth (Guthrie) Connell. He is survived by many friends and cousins. Although C.C. was a member of the Methodist Church, he actively participated in several other churches. Corwin graduated from Donna High School in 1947. He attended McMurray College in Abilene where he graduated in 1950. He then attended SMU Law School and graduated in 1953. After Law School he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
After service in the Army, C.C. practiced Law in Hidalgo County. Later he went to work for the Legal Division of the Veterans Administration in Waco. His next career change was as legal counsel for the Small Business Administration in Harlingen where he retired.
The Kiwanis Club of Edinburg enjoyed his over 20 years of service and leadership as Secretary. He was a Master Mason and active member in all branches of Masonry, Shriners and Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Friday, February 29, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church at 300 West Cano in Edinburg with the Rev. Ed Krueger officiating. Masonic graveside funeral services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg. As per C.C.'w wishes no visitation will be held.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Comfort House, 617 Dallas Ave, McAllen, TX 78501 or to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Skinner-Silva Funeral Home in Edinburg. Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries.
Close friend and neighbor of Charles and Pat Strong. C.C. was a former domino partner to Charles, and Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge to which they both belonged. Charles was also appointed as executor of CC's estate.
