"Any man has had countless myriads of ancestors and among them any number of rich men and beggars,
kings and slaves, Greeks and barbarians" - PLATO
A corollary should be that anyone who pursues the hobby of genealogy has countless people to thank, and without further ado, we shall do so: Dennis Belohlavy, LaVonne Bennett, Robert McLemore Butler, Lyn Gentry Cordell, Rhodene Frederick, Linda Nugent Fuller, Ken Harvey, BonnieMargaret Benkelman Jacobs, Nan McCoy Kittell, Carolyn Tomasek Mastny, Keith McGuire, James L. McLemore III, Esq., Melba Gene McLemore, Rev. William P. McLemore, Jo Bossert Peck, Charles Strong, Evon Tisdale, Jeanie Blanton Trimble, Bettye Bragg Wagstaff, Dot Ball Williams, Fay Yeager, and Bennie Zahn. This database could not have been compiled without their help, guidance and inspiration.
Please check the notes and footnotes carefully. Sources are cited whenever possible, along with assumptions made. We've gotten better about this as we've gone along! As a work in progress, it contains incomplete and sometimes inaccurate information. Be aware we sometimes use unverified or doubtful sources for research purposes, and do not know to what extent they reflect the information to be found in primary sources.
It is our desire for this to be as complete and accurate as possible, and as such corrections, comments, and additions are gratefully accepted! You can email us by clicking the CONTACT US button.
Please check back for updates and changes. If you copy information, please cite this website as a source, so others might have a chance to come look for updates and corrections as well.
This site is dedicated, with love, to our parents and our son. Our parents, Bonnie Jean Benkelman, Thomas Eugene McLemore, Patricia Marion McGuire and Charles Richard Strong gave us roots and wings. Our son, Michael, taught us that family bonds go deeper than blood.

We began our research in 1984, and established this website in 2006 in order to share the information, photos, documents and family stories that have been so generously shared with us. We hope this will become a resource for cousins, both distant and near, to use as well. Though our primary focus has been our direct family lines, we have also gathered much information as well about many of the early settlers in Sabine County, Texas; Stephens County, Oklahoma;
Tuscola County, Michigan and Fillmore County, Nebraska. Corrections and additional information are always welcome.
If you have any questions, comments or would like to share research with me, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
