Truman Ellsworth Krapf , 87, of Hornersville, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at Gulfport, Miss.

Born June 26, 1916, in Hornersville, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Krapf , he was a member of the Hornersville Masonic Lodge and served as a deacon in the Shields and Silverdale Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorthea Krapf , of Hornersville; one son, Freddie Krapf and wife, Vickie, of Hornersville; one daughter Carole Moore and husband, Jimmy, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; three grandchildren, Dayna James, of Nashville, Tracy Williams, of Gulfport and Eric Krapf , of Dexter, Mo. and four great-grandchildren, Whitney Wright, Erin and Reagan James and Drake Williams.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers were Ron Lea, Bruce Miller, Grant Galyean, Jack Sparks, Dennis Clark and Ken Phillips.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Hornersville was in charge of arrangements.

Later he was one of the 20,000 who made a run for a homestead in the Cherokee Strip in Oklahoma in 1880. About 1900 he moved with his family to the "boot heel" country of southeast Missouri. He was an overseer for farmers. When his sons were old enough, he rented land for them to farm. He raised cotton and corn on this rich bottom land. He eventually acquired land of his own."

MRS. MARY CRAMER, 86, DIES NEAR GLEN ROCK

GLEN ROCK, Sept 24 ? Mrs. Mary Krebs Cramer, widow of Oliver H. Cramer, died at 7 o'clock this evening at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Shaffer, near here. Death came suddenly to the 86 year old woman as she was seated at the supper table. Coroner L. U. Zech issued the certificate, giving a heart attack as the cause of death.

Mr. Cramer died two years ago. Surviving besides the daughter, Mrs. Shaffer, are a foster son, Levi W. Bubb, Baltimore, and a brother, Humphrey Krebs, Brodbeck. Mrs. Cramer was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Stone church.

The funeral will be held Friday with brief services from the Shaffer home at 1:30 p.m. (EST) and further services at the Stone church. Rev. Kenneth S. Ehrhart will officiate. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Funeral Directors G. W. Geiple and Son are in charge of arrangements. 		 STR06 
12315 I848  Krehl  Augusta Catherine Freidrika  6 Mar 1870  8 Feb 1934  0  The only child of Friederick KREHL and Philippine BLAUFUSS, who were married in Franklin Center, Iowa,on 6 June 1869. The family was in Lee County at the time of the 1870 census, and she was listed as "Kate."

Alvin Benkelman, a descendant, writes that Fred. KREHL of Wuerttemberg was listed in GERMANS TO AMERICA as arriving on the CONFEDERATION from Havre on 7 June 1856. Some five years after his arrival in this county, he enlisted in Company B, 2nd PA. heavy artillery of the Union Army, and served from 22 Dec 1861 to 21 Dec 1864.

His wife, Philippine was the daughter of Johannes George BLAUFUSS and Wilhelmina BECKER of Rhein Pfalz, Germany.

SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. JNO BENKELMAN

Mrs. John A. Benkelman, 63, died suddenly at her home on West Main street on Thursday morning. Mr. Benkelman had left the home to go to the office of The Farm Produce Co., and when he returned about an hour later, he found his wife dead in the dining room. A heart attack is said to have been the cause of her sudden decease. News of her passing came as a great shock to her relatives and friends as her death was most unexpected. Funeral arrangements had not been completed when the Chronicle went to press Thursday afternoon.

Funeral services for Mrs. John A. Benkelman, 64, who died suddenly Thursday morning, Feb. 8, were held Sunday, from the home on West Main street, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. P.J. Allured officiated and interment was in Elkland cemetery.

Augusta Catherine Krehl was born March 6, 1870, at Franklin Center, Iowa. Her mother died when she was two years old and she made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Striffler, neighbors of the Krehls. Within a short time, Mrs. Rosina Striffler also answered the final call and soon after Mr. Striffler and family came to live in Cass City, bringing Augusta Catherine with them and she has lived in and near Cass City since. About forty-five years ago, she was united in marriage with John A. Benkelman.

She is survived by her husband, four sons and one daughter, Glen of Cleveland, Ohio; Dorus, at home; Alvin of Manassas, Va.; John of Detroit; Mrs. James Brown (Marie) of Pigeon; and five grandchildren. One daughter, Ida, preceded her in death.

It is located about 2 miles southeast of Rakisik (Roki?kis pronounced "RAW-kish-kis"). Laib Krok's daughter, Rella Krok, lived in adulthood in Rakisik. Her first husband, Yehuda Laib Romm, was from Ponedel (Pandelys ronounced "pahn-dey-LEES"), which is about 16 miles west of Rakisik. After he died, Rella married Rabbi Abraham Abramovitz and continued to live in Rakisik. The name of the family society remembers the given names of the second and first husbands of Rella Krok, namely, Abraham and Yehuda Laib.

One of Rella's children with Yehuda Laib Romm was Etta Devayra Romm, who married Shlomo Zavilevitz (Savilevics) and lived in Kupisik (Kupi?kis '96 "koo-PISH-kis"). Their son Zanvil Zavilevitz (Savilevics) was born in Kupisik and was sent at a young age, probably around 12, to Riga (today, the capital of Latvia) to learn be a capmaker. When Zanvil's apprenticeship ended, he went to live with his grandmother Rella and her second husband in Rakisik. Zanvil's sister, Zlata Zavilevitz (Savilevics), who was also born in Kupisik, also went to live with Rella and Abraham Abramovitz.

A Funeral Service for Glenn will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tobias Gymnasium in Tobias, Nebraska. Pastor Vic Peterson will preside over the Funeral Service.

A public visitation will take place on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Farmer & Son Funeral Home - Kotas Chapel in Milligan, Nebraska from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

There will be Military Honors outside the Tobias Gymnasium following the Funeral Service. They will be performed by the Tobias American Legion Post 311.

It was Glenn's wish to be cremated following the Funeral Service and his ashes will be placed in the Alexandria Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Tobias American Legion or the Tobias Fire Department.

Glenn Edwin Kronhofman was born in Geneva, Nebraska on November 12, 1948 to Edward and Mary Ann (Cecrle) Kronhofman of Tobias, Nebraska. He passed away at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska on May 3, 2023, at the age of 74 years.

Glenn grew up on the family farm west of Tobias and attended the District 41 school. He graduated from Tobias High School in 1966, and then studied mechanics at the Universal Technical Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. After college graduation, he worked for Nick's Farm Store in Geneva.

In 1968, Glenn enlisted in the Navy as a Seabee, and served two deployments in Vietnam. He volunteered for the second deployment. He was in the Naval Reserves until 1974. Glenn was proud to serve his country, and his hard work and dedication to the Navy did not go unnoticed, as he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. He also received several letters of commendations from his superiors that were listed in his military file. Upon discharge from the Navy, he returned home to work for Frans Feed Store in Tobias, while also farming with his dad and trucking.

Glenn was a proud member of the Tobias American Legion Post 311, the VFW Post 7102 in Geneva, and a founder of the Sons of Legion post in Tobias. He served on the Alexandria and Tobias Volunteer Fire Departments. He was also a dedicated trucker, and a member of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association.

In January of 1971, Glenn married Joyce Schneider. To this union, Joe and Tanya were born. Glenn and Joyce parted ways, and in July of 1979, he married Helen Harder who brought Gina, whom Glenn adopted, and Donna, Charlie, Cindy, and Susan were born. They separated, and in October of 1998, he married Ava "Kate" Nicholson. She brought her sons Zachary, Nicholas, and Matthew into the family. They also parted ways, and in July of 2011, Glenn married Trish McDonald. She brought William, Mark, and Courtanie into the family.

Glenn took pride in all of his children, grandchildren, and his first great grandchild to date. He enjoyed visiting and playing pitch with them, and attending his grandchildren's activities. He was outgoing and sociable with his family and his peers. He spent many nights at the Geneva VFW and Tobias Legion drinking Vodka Cranberries, and countless mornings at the local bar for morning coffee. Glenn knew all of the gossip, and knew who to call to get it. If someone did not have the answer he was looking for, *click*, on to the next call. When a call did not suffice, he was in his truck with a cigar in his mouth, driving all around the surrounding counties to see what everyone was up to. Had he not been a farmer and trucker, he would have thrived being a news reporter and weather man. Glenn always knew how much moisture everyone had before the weather was on TV.

He was John Deere green, through and through. Glenn loved tractors, and spent the majority of his free time during his retirement doing all things tractor. He collected tractors, traveled to sales and tractor pulls, organized and participated in tractor drives, and spent countless hours working on his tractors with his family. When he wasn't with his tractors, he was in his truck or the van. He loved to travel, near and far. He made several trips with Trish out to California to visit her family. No matter where he went, he always took the long route, so he could point out all the interesting spots and things along the way.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Ann Kronhofman, his special aunt Wilma Kronhofman, his former wife, Helen Kronhofman, and granddaughter Elizabeth Labenz.

He is survived by his wife, Trish Kronhofman of Tobias, Nebraska; his former wife Joyce Plock of York, Nebraska; his former wife, Ava "Kate" Kronhofman of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and her sons Zachary, Nicholas, and Matthew Wright; his sister Cheryl (Don) Uher of Daykin, Nebraska; his brother Galen (Trish) Kronhofman of Alma, Nebraska; his brother Dan (Brenda) Kronhofman of Geneva, Nebraska; his sister Karen Kronhofman (Brent Mitchell, special friend) of Lincoln, Nebraska; his son, Joe (Paige) Kronhofman of Ainsworth, Nebraska, and their children, Kortney and Cody; his daughter, Tanya (Tim) Peters of Stromsburg, Nebraska and children Claton and Bryce; his daughter Gina (Larry) Schafer of Tobias, and their children, Mikayla (Ricky) Nu?ez (and their son Lorenzo, the first great grandchild), Hailey, and Kolby; his daughter Donna Jacobitz of Bruning, Nebraska, and her children, Shana and Bradley; his daughter Charlotte (Lonnie) Rachow of Shelton, Nebraska, and their children, Kylee and Hunter; his daughter Cindy (Scott) Harding of Geneva, Nebraska, and their children, Domonic, Faith, and Kellin; his daughter Susan (Mark) Labenz of Bruning, Nebraska and their children Jacob and Isabella; his stepson William Rainey of Virginia, Nebraska and his children Celena, William Jr., Danika, Elijah Sophia, Emmet, Ellie, Khalianna, Kaydrianna, Adrianna, Max, and Andrew; his stepson, Mark Miller Jr. (Crystal) of Deshler, Nebraska, and children Tequilla, Falynn, Kaisley, and Theodore; and stepdaughter Courtanie Miller (William Carney) of Beatrice, Nebraska, and children Jaylynn, Raychel, and Kiyana; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Alfred James Krupicka of Exeter, Nebraska was born on May 27, 1915 to Kristina Bernasek Krupicka and Charles Krupicka Sr. on a farm southeast of Milligan, Nebraska. He was the fourth of five children. Alfred passed away at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont at the age of 103 years, 8 months and 23 days. He attended Milligan Public School through the 10th grade when he began his farming career working for his brother-in-law, Felix Bedlan Sr. for 50 cents a day. He then partnered with his brother, Charles, on a farm near Geneva. From there Alfred worked for Ewalt Amusement Company and Peter Kiewit Construction. Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Alfred volunteered for service in the Coast Guard in February 1942. Alfred received basic training at the Algiers Naval training station, which was across the river from New Orleans. He was then assigned to the Naval Shipyard at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where he served until, he was honorably discharged in November 1943. After leaving the service, Alfred worked for "Swede" Bulin as a mechanic in the service station at the corner of Maple and Main Street in Milligan, Nebraska before purchasing the property and starting the Club Loyal in the basement.

Alfred met Irene Svec at a dance held in the Milligan Auditorium. They were married on August 24, 1948 at the Fillmore County courthouse. Their wedding dance was held in Burress, Nebraska, and the Steinacher Family Harmony Knights band provided the entertainment.

In their first year of marriage Alfred and Irene lived in Milligan next door to Alfred's parents. Irene and Alfred were employed at the Horseshoe Inn where Irene worked as a waitress and cook, and Alfred was a bartender. The couple then moved to Fairbury where Alfred worked in retail sales at Gambles. From Fairbury, Alfred and Irene went back to farming and rented farms northeast of Milligan and north of Grafton and Fairmont for several years. They moved to Exeter around 1955, where they spent the rest of their married life together. Alfred worked for Mumby's service station in Fairmont for several years, as well as, operating his own service station for 3 years in Fairmont. Alfred and Irene also operated a drive-in called the Frosty Inn located in Exeter. Alfred finished his career working for the Nebraska Department of Roads until he retired.

In 1965, Alfred started a polka band with his two sons, Larry and David, called the 3K's. In time, his daughters Carolyn and Judy joined the group. They entertained at many establishments throughout the area, including Milligan, KOLN-TV, and the Nebraska State Fair. Alfred and his son David continued to entertain at various events around the area for many years.

Alfred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who would do anything for his family. He was an accomplished mechanic and carpenter. In addition to performing mechanical work on farm machinery and the family cars, he built the house at Exeter from the ground up with his father's help. Alfred's greatest love was his family and entertaining with his accordion playing Czech music. Alfred was always looking for opportunities to see many family members together for holiday events. The more the better.

Alfred was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 240 in Milligan for 77 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Irene of 60 years; his parents Charles and Kristina; brothers and sisters.

He is survived in life by sons Larry (Debby) of Lakewood, Colorado and David (Linda) of Exeter, Nebraska; daughters Carolyn (Mark) Brock of Sidney, Nebraska and Judy (Scott) Hulse of York, Nebraska; Grandchildren Jeff (Stasha) Krupicka of Paris, Texas, Jason (Kelley) Krupicka of Denver, Colorado, Jennifer (Todd) Sheffield of Pella, Iowa, Amanda Brock of Portsmouth, Virginia, Andrew Brock of Sidney, NE, Mariah and Mitchel Hulse of York, Nebraska; and Great Grandchildren Emma and James Krupicka of Denver, Colorado.

Kay was born August 28, 1970, in Friend, NE to Richard & Donna (Dolnicek) Krupicka. She graduated from Milligan High School and received her Associates Degree in accounting from Central Community College in Hastings and computer office skills from Lincoln School of Commerce. She married Ron Pavelka on September 8, 1990, in Milligan, NE.

Kay worked as an office manager/administrative assistant for attorney Steve Scherr, Midwest Ear Nose & Throat, and Homestead Assisted Living. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and Altar Society. Kay volunteered for Hastings Chamber of Commerce events and many other events in the community.

Kay was preceded in death by her grandparents and brother-in-law, Michael Swanson.

LaRene was born December 3, 1930, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Charles and Anne (Koca) Krupicka. She attended Geneva Public Schools and after graduation went to work as a phone operator in York, Nebraska. On June 27, 1953, LaRene was united in marriage to Robert Busler at the First Presbyterian Church in York.

The couple moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and then back to York before moving to Columbus in 1957. LaRene was a member of Navy Mothers, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid reader.

Louis Alfred Krupicka was born to Charles Krupicka and Kristina Bernasek Krupicka on May 22, 1917 at Tobias, Nebraska and passed away September 13, 2015 at the Friend Manor in Friend, Nebraska at the age of 98 years. He was one of 5 children in the family.

Louis met his lifelong partner Elsie June Luzum at Sunset Dance Hall in Lincoln. They were united in marriage November 2, 1944 at the courthouse in Wilber, Nebraska. A reception followed the ceremony at Tabor Hall with a dance by the U-Neta Orchestra. This marriage was blessed with 2 children.

Louis and Elsie resided on a farm near rural Milligan for the first 6 years of marriage. They then purchased their farm near McCool Junction and remained there until 1991 when they purchased a house in the town of McCool Junction. Louis was a very wonderful accordion player. He learned to play the accordion at the age of 8 years old, and played the accordion at many polka dances and family get togethers.

Louis enjoyed farming; he planted milo and soybeans in fields and had cattle, hogs and sheep. Louis and Elsie also raised chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys.

Louis was preceded in death by is parents Charles and Kristina Krupicka of Milligan, wife Elsie, sisters Mamie Bedlan of Milligan and Hazel Koca of Shelby and brother Charles Krupicka Jr. of Geneva.

He is survived by his son Lavern Krupicka of McCool Junction, daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Gary Vodicka of Fairmont, Nebraska, grandchildren Shelley (Vodicka) Timmermans and husband Mike of Hampton, Randy Vodicka of Fairmont, great grandchildren Zachary and Mikaela Timmermans of Hampton, and brother Alfred Krupicka of Fairmont.

Richard Dean Krupicka was born to Adolph A. & Emma B. (Krisl) Krupicka on August 16, 1938 on the family farm two and half miles south of Milligan, Nebraska, and passed away on August 27, 2019 at Heritage Crossings in Geneva, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years and 11 days.

Richard attended Milligan Public School, graduating in 1955. He was a farmer all his life and enjoyed the work on the farm.

Richard married Donna Kay Dolnicek on August 31, 1963 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence, Nebraska. To this union three children were born: Rodney Joseph, Michelle Rene, and Kay Marie. They spent the first 50 years of their married life on a farm near Milligan. The farm had been in the family for over 100 years. They later moved into Milligan.

Richard never knew a stranger. He loved to go to sales, not to buy, but to talk to friends. He made many new friends from the sales he frequented. He also enjoyed joining friends for coffee each day. He was always ready to help anyone when needed. Richard served on the Milligan School Board and was a trustee of the St. Wenceslaus Church for many years and spent many hours making the new church become a dream-come-true. His faith was very important to him.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Emma Krupicka; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Lillian (Kalvoda) Dolnicek; daughter, Kay Pavelka; brothers, Lawrence, Raymond, Adolph, and William; Sisters, Antoinette, Rita, and Grace.

William Gene Krupicka was born to Adolf and Emma (Krisl) Krupicka on December 30, 1934 near Milligan, Nebraska, and passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 19 days. He was one of eight children in the family.
William was baptized on June 22, 1935 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milligan,Nebraska.
?William graduated from Milligan High School and then attended Nebraska School Of Barbering at Omaha, Nebraska and graduated in August 1955. He was employed as a barber in Lincoln, York, Grafton and Milligan.
He served in the U.S. Army from May 2, 1957 and given an honorable discharge on April 30, 1963. He served 19 months in Germany and France.
William was married to Joyce Fields on May 6, 1963 and to them three children were born.
William was then employed with Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company, which later known as Kinder-Morgan for 31 years as a service technician.
He married Liela Virchow on November 17, 1972 at Davenport, Nebraska
William joined the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Davenport on May 6th, 1979 by adult confirmation.
"Bill" as he was commonly known, was a frequent blood donor to the American Red Cross. He was member of the Lion Club, Amvets, NRA and Pheasants Forever. He was an avid sportsman.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Adolf and Emma Krupicka, daughter Darla Jo in infancy, brothers, Lawrence, Raymond and Adolf Jr., Sisters, Antoinette and Grace.
He is survived by his wife Liela Krupicka of Davenport, NE, daughters, Dell Hobler of LaVista, NE and Dawn and husband Todd Cundiff of Council Bluffs, IA, Step-sons, Dallas and wife Mary Virchow of Lincoln, NE and Delbert and wife Deb of Seward, NE, a brother, Richard and wife Donna Krupicka of Milligan, NE and a sister, Rita Krupicka of Hemet, CA, by grandchildren Cassidy Hobler, Emma Cundiff and Maxwell Cundiff, Step-grandchildren, Aaron and wife Sarah Virchow, Blake and wife Leslie Virchow, Orion Virchow and Shawn Virchow, also by step-great grandchildren William, Ethan and Allie Virchow and Ryan Daniels also by many nieces and nephews.
Prayer services were held Friday, at 10 a.m., November 23, 2012, at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home-Kotas Chapel in Milligan, NE with Pastor Merlin Holtzen officiating. Casket bearers were Alan Krupicka, Rod Krupicka, Brad Kresak, Matt Caldwell, Joel Reinke and Marvin Holtzen. Military graveside services followed the prayer services at the Bohemain National Cemetery conducted by the Milligan American Legion HSSK Post #240 with Farmer & Son Funeral Home-Kotas Chapel in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service was held Friday, at 1 p.m., November 23, 2012 at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Davenport, Ne with Pastor Timothy Prince officiating. Karen Haake accompanied the St Peter's Lutheran Quartet who sang "Softly & Tenderly," "How Great Thou Art" and "Abide With Me." Karen also accompanied the congregation who sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Memorials are directed to the family.

12351 I11855  Krylova  Anna  Abt 1821  25 Jun 1897  0  A newspaper clipping from 1897 details the accident that claimed the life of Anna Beznoska, and seriously injured her husband:

"Frank Bisnoski (sic) Sr. and wife of Saunders County were victims of a serious runaway Sunday. While driving a spirited team and going down hill, the team became unmanageable and started to run. At the bottom of the hill the horses ran into a wire fence, and the occupants of the bugy were violently thrown into the fence. Mr. Bisnoski received some very severe cuts by the entangled wire...Mrs. Bisnoski, however, was more unfortunate, and received a scalp wound among other injuries. The results could be fatal (to her). Both of these people are upward of 70 years of age, and the results of the accident will be a question for some time. Dr. Doan was called to attendance and relieved the sufferings of the injured as far as was possible. The team was badly cut from the wire and it is feared one of them will have to be killed to relieve if of it's injuries."

A follow up article noted: "Mrs. Bisnoski (sic) who was so seriously injured a few weeks ago in a runaway accident in Saunders County could not survive the injuries received and died during Friday night. The funeral services were held Saturday. A large community of friends were in attendance at the last rites."

This is likely because the N1B Haplogroup is uncommon in Europe, and not included as one of the nine lineages that encompass almost all mtDNAs from European, North African and Western Asian Caucasians. Rather, it is in the cluster of "minor haplogroups" W, I and N1b. These three are present in low frequencies in Europe, Near East and Caucasus but only I and N1b have been also detected in Egypt and Arabia. The N1b haplogroup in Europe often indicates Jewish ancestry. The last group radiated around 39,000-52,000 yr BP, giving at least four ancestral clusters. One of them originated haplogroup B that expanded to Eastern Asia, reaching Japan and southeastern Pacific Archipelagos."

She was born Feb. 4, 1981, in Hastings, Neb., to Richard and Kay (Overturf) Knutson.

Survivors include her loving parents of Alma; sister, Beth Schweitzer and her husband, Jason, of Atlanta; nieces, Ava and Braylin Schweitzer of Atlanta; maternal grandmother, Ellen Overturf of Superior, Neb.; paternal grandfather, Meredith Knutson of Cambridge, Neb.; her aunts and uncles; eight cousins; and many, many friends.

She was the second daughter in her family. Kara was baptized as an infant in March 1981 at the United Methodist Church in Davenport, Neb. She was later confirmed at First United Methodist Church in Alma. Kara was active in the United Methodist Church Youth Group while in high school.

Kara attended Davenport Public School until 1990 when the family moved to Alma. Kara finished high school at Alma Public School as a member of the class of 1999. She attended Doane (Neb.) College and Colby (Kan.) Community College. She was a proud member of the Colby Community College Lady Trojan volleyball team.

She attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Neb., where she received her associate science degree in surgical technology in 2004 and her associate's degree in nursing in 2006.

Kara was employed as a home health nurse in Arvada. Kara loved being a nurse and working with all of her clients and their families. She was loved in return by all she cared for.

Kara was involved in the MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue Association. Through this organization she adopted her own Boston, Lily. Lily was the light of Kara's life. Kara also loved antiques and collectables.

12368 I15103  Kubicek  Matej (Mathias)  7 Jan 1847  3 Jun 1915  0  He was the son of Matej Kubicek and Katerina Jelinek. Matej immigrated in 1873, along with his wife and his siblings, Josef Kubicek, Stela Kubicek (married a Sperek), and Katerina Kubicek (married a Laurenc).

Matej was drafted into the German army as a young man. Worked as a Mason after his military service. Mathias and Teresa had 13 children, but only seven survived and reached adulthood. Their eldest son, Josef, was born soon after their marriage, and died as an infant during their ocean voyage to the United States. He was buried at sea. Their children Lillian, Estelle, Mary, Edward, and James were all born, and died at a young age, in rural Fillmore County, Nebraska.

Matej and Teresa were naturalized on 4 June 1878 in Fillmore County, Nebraska. 		 STR06

Ronald R. Kubicek, 79, of Beaver Crossing, was born March 12, 1935 to Ralph and Libbie (Petracek) Kubicek and passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Exeter Care Center. He graduated from Cordova High School with the class of 1952 and served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. During his high school years he began a long career as a truck driver and later operated Kubicek and Sons Trucking for several years. Ron was united in marriage to Arlene Suchy on June 5, 1971 in Omaha.
He also worked with Ricenbaw and Noler trucking companies and farmed part time. Ron served for several years on the Beaver Crossing Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the American Legion Holmes Post #178. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, fishing and participating in local parades with his antique tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Kubicek, Beaver Crossing, daughter, Ronelle (Brian) Krenke and their children Nathan and Meghan, of Waverly, son, Jason (Jody) Kubicek and their children, Libbie Kubicek, Andrew and Kayla Ostendorf, of Waco, step-children, Kim (Pete) Koehler and their children, Mary and Robert, of Highland Village, TX, Karla (Don) Wullenwaber, of Waco and their children Kacie (Isaac) Lopez of Castle Rock, CO and Tyler Wullenwaber of Lincoln, Randal (Becky) Niewedde and their children, Spencer and Mariah, of York, step-great-granddaughter, Addison, sister-in-law, Carolyn Johnson, of Waverly, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Tom Johnson.

She was born on August 1, 1927 in Milligan, Nebraska to Fred and Anna Kubicek. She married Milo Edward Vodicka on March 13, 1948, who preceded her in death in 2008. Together they had nine children (two sets of twins).

Ruby loved her family. She stayed at home to raise the children until her youngest started kindergarten, which then she started working at Danny Dare Sewing Factory in Syracuse. She worked for a short time at Campbell's Soup in Tecumseh, and then went to work at Pendelton Woolen Mills in Nebraska City as a utility operator and instructor.

Ruby retired to take care of her husband when his health started to deteriorate. They spent many years living and enjoying life at Big Lake. They spent countless hours on their porch swing enjoying their lake view, and going out on the Pontoon boat. After his death, she spent her time making crafts.

Ruby was very artistic and loved to sew and quilt. Over the years, she made numerous wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses, afghan blankets, doilies and various other items. Through her passion for quilting, Ruby made quilts for her grandchildren and many others. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting and coloring, in which her talents were reflected in the countless pieces she created. She was still coloring up until her final days.

Ruby thoroughly enjoyed life and loved everyone she met.

Ruby is survived by her children: Sandra (Robert) Spevak, Dennis (Sandie) Vodicka, Diann (Dan) Clinkenbeard, Steven (Betty) Vodicka, Kenneth (Brenda) Vodicka, Robert (Julie) Vodicka, Donald (Denise) Vodicka, Ronald (Lori) Vodicka, David Vodicka, 30 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.

She was preceded in death by her husband Milo, after 60 years of marriage; granddaughter Stacey Lynn Vodicka; parents Fred and Anna Kubicek; brother Mike Kubicek; and sisters Helen Kovanda, Mae Kotas and Alyce Janosek.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Nebraska City.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 5 with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Nebraska City.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church.

Amos S. Kubik Amos S. Kubik, 90, of Duncan died Thursday, April 26, 2001, in Duncan. Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald J. Wolf officiating. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan.

Amos was born Jan. 25, 1911, in Chickasha to Joe and Lottie Givens Kubik. He married Mary Pat Sparks on June 19, 1933, in El Reno and she preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 1983. Amos had a genius for making and keeping friends. His early life was very hard as the middle of three brothers whose mother left the family when they were quite young. He grew to manhood in the early depression years, completed high school and became a cross-country bus driver, taking the longest routes for maximum income to support his family of four daughters and a son, in addition to other family members and friends down on their luck. He retired from his job with 44 years of safe driving and many, many friends along the routes and in the towns where his buses made stops and among his fellow drivers.

Amos never allowed the frustrations and anxieties of this somewhat nomadic life, which kept him away from his beloved family many nights and most weeks, to overcome his basic good nature, deeply felt emotional ties to all kinds of people in all stations of life.

Amos was deeply committed to economic and racial justice and made his personal life an example in the Jim Crow days of Oklahoma and Texas, standing by his union and his belief in equalities in a region that was generally hostile both to minorities and to unions. He never apologized for his political and social beliefs but he never seemed to give offense with them either...people knew that his ideas and beliefs were from the highest of motives and a sensitive, caring personality.

Amos was an excellent woodworker, a very good mechanic and gifted with enormous common sense. He was never selfish with his money or goods or time and each of his children had a warm and affectionate relationship with him, although a very different one in each case.

Amos and Mary Pat, his wife of 51 years, remained a loving couple to the very end of her life and they were blessed in his post-retirement years with the time to travel, to shop for the collectibles and antiques which they both loved and to work on their lovely home, largely built from a smaller place by Amos himself. The very many close friends of Amos Kubik and his descendants, who include five children, Ireta Kubik Litton of Woodland Hills, Calif., James "Pete" Kubik of Houston, Texas, Mary Sue Sparkman of Exton, Pa., Martha Ann Lewis of Tujunga, Calif., and Jo Pat Kubik of Marlow; a half-brother, Art Red; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, will hold the memory of this gentle, honest and loving person and of his devoted wife who preceded him in death for their time on this earth.

Rest in peace. Bearers will be Robert Litton, Marc Litton, Joe Lewis, John Strong, Bill Strong and George Ausbrooks. Honorary bearer is Charles Strong.

Joseph Kubik, 78, Dies This Morning

Joseph Kubik, 78, of 213 South 9th, died in a local hospital at 11:25 am today after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.

Kubik, who lived in Duncan 36 years, had been hospitalized for three days. He had worked at the Browder, Matt and Bill's, and Hutchison & Roundtree Hardware stores here before retiring about two years ago.

A native of Scottsbluff, Neb., he was a member of the First Baptist Church and International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge here.

Service will be at 2 pm Sunday in Grantham Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. J.Thurmond George, First Baptist pastor, will be assisted in the service by the Rev. V. A. Jones of Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery.

Survivors include the widow, Lottie; and three sons, William R of 9 South 12th; Amos S of 221 North 11th; and R. Dale of Kennewick. Washington.

Also two brothers, Ladd and Stanley, both of El Cajon, CA; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Fillipi of Pasadena, CA, and Mrs. Joe Sanders of Scottsdale, AZ.

Josephine Patricia Kubik, 60, of Exton, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Chester County Hospital, West Chester.

Born in Duncan, Okla., she was the youngest daughter of the late Amos and Mary Pat Kubik.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Pete Kubik, on March 16, 2009.

She is survived by her three sisters, Rita Litton of Woodland Hills, Calif., Mary Sue Sparkman of Exton and Martha Lewis of Imperial Beach, Calif.; 11 nephews and nieces; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.

Jo was beloved by many people in Duncan and Marlow, Okla., and in Exton. Her large, extended family and many friends will miss her compassionate and giving spirit and her great sense of humor.

Jo Pat graduated from Duncan High School, was employed by the Duncan Credit Union, Halliburton, Security National Bank, Taco Bell, Bedrock Nursery in Lawton, Okla., and lately owning and running her own business, Jo's Smoked Meats. She was an active volunteer worker in the aftermath of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

There will be a graveside service held at the Duncan Catholic Cemetery, Duncan, Okla., on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Center of Chester County, 440 E. Marshall St., Suite 201, West Chester, PA 19380.

Funeral services were at 2 pm last Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel, North Bend, for Ernest G. Kucera, 62, who died Monday, October 20 at his home in Fremont after a short illness.

Surviving are his widow; his mother, Mrs. Albie Beznoska Kucera, North Bend; and a sister, Mrs. Joe (Olga) Krepel, North Bend. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry R. Kucera.

Mr. Kucera was born at Brainard Sept. 15, 1913. He farmed in Dodge County before moving to Fremont. He was a 20-year employee of Lincoln Sand and Gravel.

He married Eugenia Barta on Aug. 31, 1943, at Hiawatha, Kansas.

The Rev. Audrey Scott officiated, and burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Fremont.

Pallbearers were Robert Barta, Leonard Tomasek, Leland Tomasek, Robert Allan, Raymond Beznoska, and Bill Lambrecht.

Mrs. Ralph Diffey was organist and Mrs. Richard Nott was vocalist.

Jaroslav Rudolph Kucera, son of Joseph Kucera and Mary (nee Milacek) was born on June 8, 1884 near Prague, Nebraska. He passed away on July 30, 1965 at the Birchwood Manor Home in North Bend.

Jerry, as he was commonly called, was baptized as in infant in the Church at Plasi, near Prague. He grew up in the Prague-Weston area. On August 2, 1904 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Albie Beznoska, who survives. Other survivors include a son Ernest of Fremont, a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Olga) Krepel of North Bend, two grandchildren and six great-children.

For approximately 40 years, Jerry was a farmer. In about 1945 he and Mrs. Kucera moved to North Bend where he operated a filling station for a few years, and then worked on road maintenance for the county until 1960 when he retired.

Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Monday at the Moser Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Beckmann officiated. Organist was Mrs. Ralph Wilshusen who accompanied soloist Miss LaDonna Wilshusen.

Pallbearers were Ray Beznoska, Melvin Beznoska, Leonard Tomasek, Leland Tomasek, Robert Allan and Duane Arthur. Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Philips, Jim Vojtech, Ed Borgelt, Louis Kracl, Lewis Racek and Albert Dvorak. Burial was at National Cemetery, Prague, Nebraska. Arrangements were by Moser Funeral Home.

He was born on April 5, 1937 in Fillmore County, Nebraska to John J. Kucera and Alice M. (Svec) Kucera. He married Elaine Sharon Ackland on November 22, 1961 at Saint Mary's Cathedral in Lincoln. John served four years in the U.S. Navy and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1962. He retired from L-3 Communications in Salt Lake City in 1999. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish in Copperton, Utah for many years, where he served as an usher, member of the parish council, and as parish administrator for four years.

John was preceded in death by his parents, son Richard, and sisters Marilyn Zank and Joanne Vasina of Lincoln. He is survived by wife Elaine, sons David (Leslie Robinson) of Del Mar, Calif., James Kucera of Murray, Utah, and William Kucera of Herriman, grandson Matthew Kucera of Del Mar, and granddaughters Alyssa Kucera of Del Mar and Erica Webb of West Jordan, Utah.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, at Immaculate Conception Parish in Copperton, Utah, with a viewing at the church one hour prior to services. A private inurnment will be held at Murray City Cemetery, Murray, Utah. Please visit, www.goffmortuary.com

She was born in Valentine on January 7, 1940 to Lyle and Sophia (White) Kunselman. Diane helped many as a professional counselor. Her hobbies were photography, gardening and music. Diane was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed dearly.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kellie Ford.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 at The Columns at Pioneers Park, South Coddington Avenue, Lincoln, with Deacon Christine Grosh officiating. Lenora Hass was born on August 23, 1923, in Crete, NE to Anton and Helen Kupka. She went to dance with her husband, Renye, in Heaven on January 2, 2012, at the age of 88. Her growing up years were spent in Crete doing a variety of jobs. During high school and a year after graduation, she sold tickets at Lyrie and Isis theaters. Lenora taught school in Saline County from 1941-1946. In May of 1946, she was a bank teller for City National Bank. Being a teller at that time also involved typing, using the posting machines and anything else that needed to be done. In 1945, she worked at Stover Candy Co in Lincoln. Lenora also volunteered to make bandages at the Red Cross during WWII.

The Kupka family always loved music. Her Dad played many instruments and was in a band. The Kupka sisters sang together every chance they got. Lenora and Renye enjoyed their Saturday night dancing at Pla-Mor with family and friends.

On October 14, 1948, Lenora married Renye Hass. She taught school again at District 5 in Fillmore County from 1950-1952. Into this union, three children were born; Maribeth, Marsha and Bob. She worked side by side with Renye on the farm. This city girl learned to collect eggs, catch the chickens to butcher, make great sandwiches to take to the field, tend a mean garden and learn how to cook on a wood-burning stove. She was a great cook taking care of not only her family, but her neighbors and church family too.

When the children were old enough to fend for themselves after school, she went to work for Bethesda Care Center for 1 ? years in housekeeping in April 1971. Maribeth was their bookkeeper, but went off to college in 1971, so Lenora took over the bookkeeping job from Sept 1971 to 1984. Her teaching skills were called for again when she became Russell Clark's companion from 1986 to 1999, keeping his mind active with games and puzzles and encouraging him to go for walks down the hall.

Lenora was a fifty-plus year member of the United Methodist Church, a 75-year member of WFLA Lodge #3 and a 63-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by daughters Maribeth (David) Stone, St. Peters, MO; Marsha (David) Swanstrom, North Platte, NE; son Bob (Jackie) Hass, York, NE; granddaughters Michelle Stone, Indianapolis, IN; Angela Hass, Aurora, NE; sisters Dorothy Rejcha, Beatrice, NE; Leona (Ed) Jirak, Boise, ID; nephews Jim (Susie) Boise, ID; Tom (Susan) Layfette, CO; niece Jana Jirak, Lansing, MI; and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral services will be conducted from the United Methodist Church in Exeter, Nebraska on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Ray Underwood officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home in Exeter. Leonard Krasser gave the Eulogy. Delores Bailey accompanied Jim Jirak who sang Just As I Am Without One Plea and Amazing Grace. Casket bearers were Anthony Nun, Matthew Nun, Alan Michl, Al Hosek, Bob Jungst and Kelly Homolka. Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery. Memorials are directed to the family.
