I am Yvonne Kattawar and I am looking for information you might have for my gr grandfather Elijah Kelly, born in Sept.l825 in Decatur, Ga. I am trying to find his parents. All I know is that they were born in N. Carolina. I have located him on the 1860 census records in Jasper Co, Tx, 1870 and 1880 he was in Newton Co, Tx. Your Travis line in Sabine Co.,with connections to EK is not a coincidence. My gr grandfather was Cannon Travis, brother to Richard Henry. Cannon's daughter, Martha Jane (my grandmother) married James E. Kelly, whose father was Elijah.Thanks for your help.

Mrs. Ada Conner Dies July 7
Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Frances Conner, 76, were held Tuesday, July 8, at 4 p.m. at the East Mayfield Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. L. R. Dunn, officiating. Assisting was the Rev. Dan Marshall, pastor of the Jasper Baptist Church. Burial was in the Springhill cemetery under the direction of the Starr Funeral Home of Hemphill.
Mrs. Conner died suddenly July 7 at her home here at 1:20 p.m. from a heart attack. She was a native of Sabine County and had lived here all her life.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Obie Kindley, Mrs. Floyd Lott and Mrs. Ivy Ferguson, all of Hemphill; Mrs. Marvin Herndon of Huntington and Mrs. A. B. Jenkins of Beaumont; two sons, Alton Conner of Hemphill, and Robert Conner of Beaumont; 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Alton Edward Conner, 91, of Hemphill, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Hemphill Care Center.
He was born Sept. 14, 1915 to Bob Conner and Ada Frances Crocket and had lived in Hemphill his entire life. He was an automotive mechanic and a U.S. Veteran of the Army and WW II.
Survivors: sons, Bob Conner of Hemphill and Ray Conner of Houston; daughter, Jackie MERRITT of Many, La; sister, Gladys JENKINS of Beaumont, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 3 at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill with Rev. I.W. Ferguson and Rev. Vance Purtell officiating. Interment followed in Springhill Cemetery.

Dollie KINDLEY
Dollie KINDLEY, 86, of Hemphill, died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at Sabine County Hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1920 in Hemphill to Robert CONNER and Ada Frances CONNER, and was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Mayfield Missionary Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her son, Eugene KINDLEY. Survivors: husband, Obie KINDLEY of Hemphill; Sons, Jerry KINDLEY and wife, Cheryl of Hemphill; daughter, Juanita SPEARS and husband Charles of Oklamoma City, OK; brother Alton CONNER of Hemphill, sister, Gladys JENKINS of Beaumont; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15 at East Mayfield Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. I.W. Ferguson and Rev. Eddie Ballard officiating. Interment followed in Springhill Cemetery.

Funeral service for Mrs. Evelyn Jewell Kelley White, 86, of Granbury, Texas formerly of Nacogdoches will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011, at 11:00 am at Laird Funeral Home with Rev. Ferrar Bentley officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
Mrs. White was born on March 4, 1925, in Browndel, Texas to the late Oscar L. and Jewell Chance Kelley. She passed away on July 21, 2011, in Granbury, Texas.
Evelyn was raised in Sabine County, Texas. She and her family moved to Nacogdoches in the 1940s. She enjoyed sewing dresses, clothes and quilting as well as watching Dancing with the Stars. Evelyn was a very private but generous person. She was an excellent wife and mother and would help anyone in need. She worked all her life and took care of her family.
Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Lisa Littlefield of Arlington, Texas and Virginia Cox and husband, Jim of Trinity, Texas; one son, John White and wife, Gail of Nacogdoches; two brothers, Bobby Kelley and wife, Monika of Granbury, Texas and Edwin Kelley and wife, Beverly of Longview, Texas; one sister, Nancy Womack of Bronson, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Martha Kelley of Katy, Texas, Avis Kelley of Katy, Texas and Lula Rose Kelley of Houston, Texas; one brother-in-law, Hershel Lawson of Jasper, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family and good friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Maxine Lane, Frankie Coan, Shirley Jones, Jackie Robinson and Ida Nell Lawson; and brothers, Melton T., Oscar "Buddy", William "Billy Joe and W.H. Kelley.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Lambret, Buck Lee, Jerry Don Fultz, A.R. Armstrong, James Griffis and Dr. Nick Schwedock.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Nacogdoches Senior Center, 621 Harris St., Nacogdoches, Texas 75961.

Shirley Ruth Jones, our beloved Mom and Maw Maw, passed away Feb. 26, 2010. She was born Dec. 2, 1935 in Sabine County, Texas to Jewel and Oscar Kelley.
Shirley was a retired beautician. She worked at North Main Beauty Shop. Ms. Jones then owned and operated Shirl's Beauty Box for many years until she retired. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; four sisters; and her husband and love of her life, Marlin Royce Jones.
She is survived by sons, Thomas David Maxwell and wife Christine, Rickey Dale Maxwell and wife Wanda, Gary Lynn Maxwell and wife Faye, and Donald Ray Maxwell and wife Stacey; sisters, Evelyn White and Nancy Womack; brothers, Bobby Kelley and Ed Kelley; special sister-in-law, Patsy Cummings; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

Mrs. Nancy May Womack, age 74, of the Rosevine Community in Sabine County, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, in Lufkin.
Nancy was born to Jewell (Chance) Kelley and Oscar E. Kelley on March 5, 1940, in Hemphill, Texas. She was retired from Temple Inland in Pineland, Texas, and was a member of the Rosevine Missionary Baptist Church in Rosevine.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with interment following in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in San Augustine County. Bro. Cliff Durham will officate. Visitation will be Friday evening, August 8, 2014, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Ida Nell Lawson, 65, of Jasper will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper, with burial to follow at Jacks Cemetery in Pineland.
Ida died October 18, 2007 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A former resident of San Augustine, she had lived in Jasper since 1962 and was a member of the The Jasper Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her husband Hershel F. Lawson of Jasper; sons Aubrey Lawson of Mabank, TX. and Sydney Allen Syd Lawson & wife Dianne of Honey Island, TX.; daughter Sheila Lawson White of Jasper; three brothers, Bill Kelley of Katy, Bobby R. Kelley of Grandbury & Edwin L. Kelley of Longview; three sisters, Evelyn White of Nacogdoches, Shirley Jones of Weatherford and Nancy Womack of Bronson; six grandchildren, Justin Allen Lawson, Tyler Stephen Lawson, Chelsea Fayth White, Justin Lee Young, Russell Wayne Young & Brandi Dunam; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Diabetes Association.
