Her Texas Death Certificate showed her as a daughter of W. H. Waller and Katie McClelland. She was a resident of Hemphill, although she died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. The informant was Mrs. Harry Kellam.

John Thomas "Mac" McGown, 83, of Beaumont died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at his residence.

He was born April 29, 1918 in Burkeville and was raised in Hemphill. McGown moved to Beaumont in the early 1940's. he was the Past Master of Lodge 286, and he proudly served his country during World War II with the 494 Bomb Squad in the U S Army. He was a retiree of Beaumont Motor Company, having worked there for 33 years. He was also a member of St. Luke Methodist Church sicne 1945.

Survivors: his wife, Carolyn Himel McGown; sons, Ray E. O'Bannion and wife Karen, Chris A. O'Bannion and wife Susie, and Daniel L. O'Bannion; daughter, Jackie O'Bannion Lujan and husband, Eddie; grandchildren, Shawnna O'Bannion, Shaun O'Bannion, Molly O'Bannion, Collin O'Bannion, Amy Moffett, Derek Moffett, Aislyn O'Bannion, Aidan O'Bannion, Bea Lujan Moore, Edward Lujan, Gabby Lujan, and Lisa Lujan; great grandchildren, Dustin Moffett, Brooke Moffett, and Haley Moore, and a niece LaNell Short.

Funeral services set of 10 am (Wednesday)...graveside rites will follow at Hemphill City Cemetery...Memorial Contributions to St. Luke Methodist, Beaumont...or the American Cancer Society...

John married Lola Cordelia Davidson on 15 Mar 1941. Lola (daughter of Richard Franklin Davidson and Rutha Benina "Nina" White) was born on 4 Dec 1913 in Texas; died on 24 Jul 1980 in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; was buried in Hemphill City Cemetery, Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas. Notes:

He shares a triple headstone at the Hemphill City Cemetery with his parents. He was a student at Lamar University at the time of his death. He died in an accident, when his motorcycle hit a parked care in Beaumont.
