Kathie Duty emailed in January 2016 that Selma Louise "searched for information on genealogy YEARS ago beginning in the 1960s. She shared so much with me through the years."

In the obituary of her brother-in-law, William Howard "Punk" Love, she is referenced as "Selma Garrett." Her FindAGrave memorial pages shows she was buried next to her first husband Russell Clark Shambaugh. He was also preceded in death by her second husband, the Rev. Vernon Garrett, who died in 1991.

Selma married Russell Clark Shambaugh on 12 Jul 1935. Russell was born on 31 Aug 1902 in Booneville, Dallas County, Iowa; died on 13 Aug 1971 in Lufkin, Angelina County, Texas; was buried on 15 Aug 1971 in Garden Of Memories Cemetery, Lufkin, Angelina County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Her Texas Death Certificate shows that she was a School Teacher, and only 35 when she died. Her usual residence was Avalon, Ellis County, Texas. She died at FM 55 and Chambers creek, due to an "accidental drowning in water trying to save daughter." She was married, and the informant was her husband, James R. Worsham.

Phyllis married James Robert Worsham before 1965. James was born on 23 May 1937 in Navarro County, Texas; died on 15 Mar 1988 in Ellis County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Her death certificate shows that she died from an "accidental drowning in water falling into swollen creek." The informant was her father.
