E.D. "DeFord" McLemore
E.D. "DeFord" McLemore, 72, of Hemphill died Thursday, October 5, 2000, at Hemphill Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hemphill.
McLemore, born Jan. 17, 1928, in Bronson as a son of the late Ira and Alma (Bragg) McLemore, had lived in Hemphill several years and was the owner of an asphalt paving company. He was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a World War II veteran.
Survivors: wife, Elouise McLemore of Hemphill; son and daughter-in-law Randy and Terre McLemore of Nacogdoches;a brother, Rufus McLemore of Hemphill; and two granchildren, Hillary McLemore and Sara McLemore of Nacogdoches.
Funeral services were held Oct. 8 at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc in Hemphill with Bro. I.W. Ferguson, pastor of Johnson Missionary Baptish Church, officiating. Interment followed at Hemphill City Cemetery.
Ernest married Elouise Elizabeth Armstrong on 31 Dec 1947. Elouise (daughter of William Rudolph Armstrong and Lottie Lee Dickerson) was born on 25 Jan 1929 in Sabine County, Texas; died on 11 Jan 2012 in Sabine County, Texas; was buried in Hemphill City Cemetery, Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas.
