    Hazel Clark

    Hazel Boone Clark, 83, of Hemphill died at 12:38 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Sabine County Hospital in Hemphill.

    Mrs. Clark was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Negreet, Louisiana, as a daughter of the late Bessie Elizabeth (Ritter) and John Henry Boone and had lived in Sabine County for 65 years. She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist Church.

    Survivors: a daughter, Charlene Ellis of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Pam Click and Andy Ellis and wife Angela, all fo Houston, and Abe Covello and Linda Kloss; great-grandchildren, Heather Perimon, Shonda Mason, Ariel Ellis and Austin Ellis; sister and brother-in-law, Maurene and O. B. Stark of Hemphill; and sisters-in-law Audie Armstrong and Gladys Booth (???), both of Hemphill, and Isa Clark of Burkeville.

    Funeral services are set for 2 p.m today (Wednesday) at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home with Paul Navarre officiating. Interment will follow at Harper's Chapel Cemetery in Sabine County.

    Hazel married Odessa Andrew "Babe" Clark on 29 Jun 1940 in Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas. Odessa (son of Robert Lee Clark and Anna "Annie" Margaret Presley) was born on 27 Jan 1917 in Bellwood, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana; died on 23 Oct 1990 in Sabine County, Texas; was buried in Harpers Chapel Cemetery, Sabinetown, Sabine County, Texas. On this index, she is listed as "Larita Clarine Clark," born 29 May 1941 in Sabine County to Odesser Clark and Hazie Boone. In his book, John W. Clark lists her as "Clarene Lareta," has an earlier birthdate, that of May 29, 1938. John W. Clark also shows that she married, in 1958, Sam ELLIS.

    In her mother's obituary she is listed as "Charlene Ellis of Shreveport, Louisiana."

    OBITUARY

    Loretta Clarene Ellis, 82, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Friday, January 12, 2024. She was born May 29, 1941 in Hemphill, Texas to O.A. "Babe" Clark and Hazel Boone Clark.

    She attended Hemphill High School and she went on to have a long and successful management career with Conagra Foods. She moved back to Hemphill following her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed playing dominoes, poker and always loved a trip to the casino.

    She is survived by her daughter, Pam Click of League City; son, Andy Ellis of Houston; grandchildren, Heather Perimon, Shonda Mason, Ariel Ellis, Austin Ellis, Christine Parker and Marc Keppner; great-grandsons, Walker Keppner and Kasey Keppner; Angela Ellis; her "best friend" Michael Perimon, and her beloved fur babies, Lexie, Maddie and Bella.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, O.A. Clark and Hazel Boone Clark.

    Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Star Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.

    Funeral services will begin at 2;00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.

    Burial will follow with services at Harper Chapel Cemetery with Andy Ellis, Austin Ellis, Marc Keppner, Michael Perimon, Glenn Harper and John Merchant serving as pallbearers.
