Abt 1787 - 1857 (~ 70 years)
Generation: 1
1. | Moses McLemore was born about 1787 in South Carolina; died on 18 Mar 1857 in Copiah County, Mississippi. Notes:
Paraphrased from "Ole Rosinheels" Moses and brother Richard McLemore were born in SC, and probably moved from Giles Co., TN to Wayne Co., MS at the end of hostilities in the War of 1812. They settled in that part of Wayne County which, in 1819, became Covington County and, still later, in 1826, became Jones County. They were both listed in the 1816 census of Wayne County, but neither was on the 1810 census of the same area. They settled in the Leaf River country of what is now Jones, Perry, Forrest and Covington counties, in south-eastern Mississippi. They lived in close proximity, and John McLemore joined them in 1820. In 1836, Richard moved to Lauderdale County.
The following transcription is courtesy of Melba Gene McLemore, and relates to the military service of Moses during the Creek War:

|
31. | Agnes G. McLemore (4.John2, 1.Moses1) was born in Apr 1847 in Copiah County, Mississippi; and died. Notes:
According to Mark Freeman, she was married twice, to a P.H. Ellerbe/Ellerby and to John Grantham. It appears to have actually been her namesake niece, Agnes McLemore, the daughter of Richard McLemore and Lucy Ann Freeman who would later marry Peter Hunter Ellerbe.
Rev. William McLemore corresponded with Patricia Darlene McClendon about this line of the McLemore family.
Usually shown as dying in 1891, but she is listed with her family on the 1900 census.
Agnes married John G. Grantham about 1867. John was born on 14 Nov 1849 in Mississippi; died on 2 Jan 1933 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana; was buried in Zions Rest Cemetery, DeSoto Parish, Louisiana. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

|
34. | Caleb McLemore (4.John2, 1.Moses1) was born about 1854 in Copiah County, Mississippi; and died. Notes:
Although he is listed in the household of John and Rebecca McLemore at the time of the 1860 census, he is not included on either Mark Freeman or April Makerney's list of children. Nor is he shown with his mother and stepfather as of the 1870 census. Perhaps he died young? In addition to this, both Mark Freeman and April Makerney show an Alex James McLemore of approximately the same age, who was on the 1860 census. Perhaps they are the same person?
|

Family/Spouse: Rhoda Ida Robertson. Rhoda was born on 10 Sep 1869; died on 13 Jul 1939 in Hamburg, Franklin County, Mississippi. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

|
37. | Moses Lafayette McLemore, Sr. (4.John2, 1.Moses1) was born on 9 Jan 1862 in Copiah County, Mississippi; and died. Notes:

HIs name was CRAVEN FAIRCHILD(s) born april 1858 in PERRY COUNTY MISSISSIPPI. married EVA m. BROOME 6 Dec 1884 her death is also a mustery. She is supposed to have outlived her husband. Craven & Eva were last in the 1910 Cencus with thier children Alma E. Fairchild born about 1901
Orrin O. Fairchild born about 1903
Eric L. Fairchild (my grandfather) birn 11 april 1899
His parents were ABERAHAM LUNDY FAIRCHILD & Levinia MCLEMORE. Aberaham died in 1897 and Lavinia died after 1900 She is not in the 1910 Cencus as far as I have seen.
I would very much appreciate any information as to the deaths and burial places of Eva & Craven Fairchild.
Cravens brother Hiram Fairchild and his wife Hattie Clark Fairchild are Buried in Brookhaven, Lincoln MS.
This is a possibility but I have no way of being sure.
Other possibilitys are Jones, Copiah, Perry, Lincoln, Countys.
Thank You very Much

Diane McLemore Kennedy emailed, in May 2012, that " If I remember my granddaddy's stories correctly, he had 16 or 18 siblings. Robert left home at age 12 or 13 because he didn't like working on the farm in Mississippi. He traveled (on foot) from Mississippi to Texas. He was a carpenter by trade. I know Robert was in the military during WWI. The McLemore name did not go past my dad's generation. My dad had 4 daughters and his brother had one son that died without any offspring." Diane instead shows his year of birth as 1892.
Melba Gene McLemore notes that his registration for the Draft During WWI shows him as a carpenter for Shaw Construction Company in Sweetwater, Texas.

144. | William Anthony McLemore (41.William3, 5.Craven2, 1.Moses1) was born on 10 Feb 1888 in Indian Territory; died on 25 May 1953 in McCurtain, Haskell County, Oklahoma; was buried in Old Bokoshe Cemetery, Bokoshe, Le Flore County, Oklahoma. Notes:
Place of birth, according to his application for a Social Security accounty, was Cameron, OK. He showed this same location when he registered for the World War II draft, as a resident of Sallison, OK. This draft registration also named Lucile Myers, of Bokoshe, OK, as the "person who will always know your address." Anthony indicated he worked for himself.
His FindAGrave memorial page, created by Frances Allen Titsworth, links him to his spouse, Bessie Elizabeth McLemore (1898-1983), with whom he shares a double marker. When his widow, Bessie, applied for his military marker she also showed that he was a Gunners Mate, 1rst class, and had enlisted on 9 May 1917 and was discharged 20 Dec 1918. Bessie showed her residence as McCurtain, OK, presumably wher Anthony died.
Anthony also has a miltary marker, inscribed with a cross, and the following:
