After graduating in 1941 from Milligan High School, he went to work for the Curtis Wright AirCraft factory in Buffalo, New York. In 1943, he moved to the Glen I. Martin plant in Omaha, entering the air force later that year. He served in the C.B. I. theatre as an Aircraft Fligh engineer, being discharged March 22, 1946, and returning to farming. (Milligan, p 230).

Richard married Dorothy Elaine Bures on 10 Sep 1946. Dorothy (daughter of Thomas Anton Bures and Mary Fujan) was born on 4 Apr 1924 in Fillmore County, Nebraska; died on 19 Sep 2009 in Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried on 23 Sep 2009 in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska. DEMING, NEW MEXICO - Sherrill Joyce Davis Born January 21st, 1952 in Friend, Nebraska
Died October 14, 2023 in Deming, New Mexico

Sherrill attended school at Milligan Public Schools in Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a public teaching degree. She worked in management with Carol Wright for many years before co-founding Carpets Direct floor covering store with her husband in Lincoln, Ne.

She found peace and enjoyment in nature, hiking, gardening, family, chocolate, and coffee amongst other things. She moved to the mountains outside of Deming, New Mexico with her husband in 2008 upon retirement.

Sherrill had a huge heart and loved her husband, Tom, son, Travis, and all of her family and friends. She passed away after living with cancer the past 2 and a half years.

She will be forever missed by the people in her life. She would want us all to enjoy our lives and be good to one another!
