Funeral services for Pauline Davis, 88, of San Augustine were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Memorial Presbyterian Church in San Augustine. Burial followed at McRae Cemetery in San Augustine County. Rev. Jackie Hannan and Bill Henry officiated. She died September 10, 2007 in San Augustine.
Pauline Davis was born on December 3, 1918 to John Travis and Della Bennett. She was a secretary and homemaker and was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard P. (Snooks) Davis of San Augustine and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine was in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Marie Langston
Lillian Marie Langston, 84, of Newton, died Tuesday, March 7, 1995, at Hines Shady Acres Care Center in Newton.
She had lived in Newton 21 years and was a native of Hemphill.
Survivors: daughters, Beatrice Hawthorne and Frances Hammaker, both of Newton; sons, James F. Bailey and Tony C. Bailey, both of Newton and Huey Q. Bailey of Jasper; a brother, Adam Buford "A. B." Bennett of Hemphill; 33 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Newton. Interment was at Horten Cemetery, north of Bronson.

A.B. "Buford" Bennett, 90, of Hemphill, died at 4:34 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Hemphill Care Center. Bennett was born Jan. 5, 1913, in Sabine County as a son of the late Tony Chester and Emily Lillian (Denby) Bennett and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a poultry and cattle farmer and a member of the Littleton Fowler Masonic Lodge #305. He was also a deacon at East Mayfield Baptist Church. Survivors: wife, Allie Bell Bennett of Hemphill; sons Gerald Bennett of Greenville, South Carolina, and David Bennett of Beaumont; a daughter, Juanice ROWLAND of Beaumont; step-daughters, Peggy METZ of Silsbee, and Wilma Jean WILLIAMS and Sussan EZERNACK, both of Pineland; 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Pattie Lillian Cordray
Pattie Lillian Cordray, 95, of Hemphill died at 5:25 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at her residence. Mrs. Cordray was born March 15, 1909, in Hemphill as a daughter of the late Harry Mellon MAUND and Annie Eltona (BENNETT) Maund. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hemphill, and in times had taught Sunday School. Mrs. Cordray taught school in several one-room school houses in Sabine County. Later she helped her husband run the family farm. She was very proud to be a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State College in Nacogdoches and instilled a desire for education in her family. She was a public assistance worker for the Texas Department of Public Welfare from 1955 until her retirement in 1971. Mrs. Cordray was a lover of Texas History and was proud to be a charter member of the James F. Gomer Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas where she held numerous officer positions. She was an active member of the Senior Citizens Center and served as their president in the past and had served on the Child Welfare Board for Sabine County.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aremel Cordray; brothers, Harry MAUND, Belmont MAUND, and Charles MAUND; and her sisters, Thelma FELTS and Wilhelmina CROWELL. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Denise Cordray of Hemphill; her daughter and son-in-law, Pattie and John DeLAMAR of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Mel Cordray and wife Marie of Nacogdoches, Genie MIDDLETON and husband Todd of Houston, Courtney MATHEWS and fiance Justin SCHMIDT of Parker, Colorado; Collin DeLAMAR of Austin, Mark COMBS and wife Veronica of Rowlett, Katie Cordray of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Waylan VAN NEST and wife Monica and Charly VAN NEST, all of Bryan; and six great-grandchildren, Trey, Scott, Morgan, Cade, Luke and Garrett; sisters, Dorothy FELTS of Hemphill, Mabel SHERMAN and her husband Hugh of Victoria, and Ann McCLAIN and husband Frank of Alto; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Rev. Richard Harris and Rev. Fred Raney officiating. Interment followed at the Hemphill City Cemetery.

William Bellmot Maund, 83, of Rosevine died at 4:28 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 1995, at Sabine County Hospital.
He was born Jan. 6, 1912, it the Rebecca Switch community of Sabine County as a son of the late Harry and Annie (Bennett) Maund and was a longtime resident of Rosevine. He retired in 1974 as an operator with the Union Carbide Company in Texas City.
Survivors: wife, Gladys Maund of Rosevine; a daughter, June Pearche of Marshall; two sons, Paul Maund of Katy and Melvin Maund of Houston; four sisters, Lillian Cordray and Dorothy Felts, both of Hemphill, Ann McClain of Alto, and Mabel Sherman of Victoria; a brother, Charles Maund of Austin; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Jean Felts
Dorothy Jean Maund Felts passed from this life to the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at her home in Hemphill. She was a beautiful woman with a loving heart and quick wit that played a mean hand of 42. Holidays were a favorite for her, bringing her large extended family together each holiday to make life-long memories; as well as for her famous chicken and dumplings and chocolate pies.
She was active in her community, being a long time member of the James Frederick Gomer chapter of the Daughers of the Republic of Texas, Hemphill Lions Club as well as the American Cancer Society, volunteer and treasurer for United Christian Services and Salvation Army, treasurer for the Hemphill Cemetery, Sunday School teacher and longtime member of First Baptist Church of Hemphill. She retired from First State Bank, Hemphill.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Earnest Clifton Felts; daughter, Janie Felts Edmiston; and great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Felts.
Left to cherish her memory are sisters, Ann McClain of Alto and Mable Sherman of Victoria; son Ronnie Felts and wife Ona of Hemphill; son, Larry Felts and wife Frances of Lufkin; daughter, Vickie Felts of Hemphill; son, Davie Felts and wife Connie of Hemphill; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 28 in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Aaron Pardue officiating. Burial follows in the Hemphill City Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill.

Charles D. "Charlie" Maund, 75, of Austin died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002. Born Feb. 3, 1927, in Hemphill, he had made his home in Austin since 1957. Maund was the definition of a self-made man. He possessed a sixth sense when it came to business. Starting out with very little at the age of 19, he bought and sold used cars for several years before acquiring his first new car dealership in Pt. Arthur at the age of 26. He turned 30 in 1957 and moved to Austin opening Charles Maund Oldsmobile-Cadillac. Maund worked hard and put in countless hours building a thriving business that allowed him to become a multi-dealership owner by acquiring a handful of dealerships long before the idea of a "mega dealer" came about. Charlie set a multitude of records, received countless awards and accolades in the automobile business.
Maund enjoyed his life, loved people and treasured his sisters, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Charlie was a licensed jet pilot, an accomplished sportsman who loved to fish and hunt. He was a Texas rancher and cattleman who loved spending time at ranches with friends and family. University of Texas football was a passion; Charlie and Coach Royal were good friends for many years as were many of the UT athletic department staff during Coach Royal's tenure.
His wife and best friend, Helen Lang Maund, to whom he was wed for 47 years, preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by brothers Harry Maund and Belmont Maund and sisters Thelma FELTS and Wilhemina CROWELL. Survivors; sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Janis MAUND and Mark and Patti MAUND; grandchildren, Jennifer Maund, Megan Maund, Erik Maund and wife, Sheri, Lindsey Maund, Adam Maund, and Ashley Maund; great-granchildren, Preston Charles Maund and Hannah Mckenzie Maund; sisters, Lillian CORDRAY, Mabel SHERMAN, Dorothy FELTS, and Ann McCLAIN. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Christian Life Church in Austin with Pastor Rex Johnson officiating. Inez Blanche Ener, 94, of Pineland, died June 10, 2007 at Hemphill Care Center.
She was born Sept. 3, 1912 in Sabine County to Howell Iles and Bena Bennett Iles. She had lived in Pineland her entire life and was a member of the Pineland Church of Christ. Shw and her late husband Bennie were owners of Ener's Store in Pineland until their retirement in 1974.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bennie C. ENER and a son, Bennie Paul ENER.

Lucille Ball
Lucille Iles Ball, 82, of Brookeland died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 1997, at St. Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana.
She was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Sabine County as a daughter of the late Howell and Ira B. (Bennett) Iles and had lived in Brookeland several years. Mrs. Ball was a member of Brookeland Church of Christ and was a retired textile department manager for Rexall Drugs in Juneau, Alaska.
Survivors: two sons, Jerry Ball and Jimmy Ball, both of Pineville, Louisiana; a sister, Inez ENER of Pineland; and a brother, William Howell Iles of Big Spring.
Graveside rites were held at 1 p.m Friday at Brookeland Cemetery with Bro. W Clarence Howell officiating.
Arrangementw were handled by Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill.

William Paul Maund left peacefully with his stepson, Billy, by his side to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 26. He was born July 25th, 1940 in Hemphill, Texas to William Belmont Maund and Gladys Burns Maund. He grew up in Hemphill and was baptized on May 20, 1951 at Bethany Baptist Church in Milam. His family later moved to League City and Paul graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1958 and enlisted in the Air Force serving 4 years as a radio intercept operator, call sign AFA5LTS, in Pakistan and Wurtsmith AFB in Oscoda, Michigan. After his Air Force service, Paul attended University of Houston for 4 years as an electronics major. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator, call sign K5LTS, which aided in his career as an electronic technician, primarily with Shell Oil Company. He lived in Katy for many years, marrying Barbara in 1970 spending 41 years with her and her children, Teresa and Todd. Paul retired in Hot Springs, AR for a year until moving back to Texas in Longview. Paul was a champion WAFB bowler, Hot Springs Retirement Community Lawn Bowling Champ and enjoyed helping fellow Ham Radio Operators work through difficult problems and helping with equipment repairs.
Paul met Mary Cole Cleary in early 2012 in the hospice grief support group where both had lost their spouses in 2011. They married a year later and enjoyed 23 trips together visiting family, friends and especially loved cruising. Paul and Mary were as giddy as teenagers together and were well known frequent visitors of Pizza King, McAlister's Deli, The Catch and Olive Garden restaurants in Longview. Paul also enjoyed being near his 4 step-great-grandchildren and watching them grow over the last 7 years. He passionately enjoyed Blue Bell Ice Cream, Amish pretzels, Root Beer, spending time with family and attending Mobberly Baptist Church.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Belmont and Gladys Maund; his brother, Melvin Maund; his sister, June Maund Pearce Kale; an infant brother and sister that died at birth; his first wife of 41 years, Barbara Jane Maund; his second wife of 9 years, Mary Cole Cleary Maund; and his stepson from his first marriage, Todd Rigelman.
He is survived by his stepdaughter from his first marriage, Teresa Hesson and her family and stepson from his second marriage, Billy Cleary and his family.
Paul will be remembered as a very kind gentleman that was quick witted and always willing to help.

Excerpts from the obituary of Janie Felts Edmiston
Carolyn Jane "Janie" Felts Edmiston, 60, of Flint moved from life on this earth to the joy of Heaven on Wednesday, July 21, 2004. Janie was born March 17, 1944 in Hemphill to E.C. "Buddy" and Dorothy Felts. She was the second of five children. She graduated from Hemphill High School where she was a majorette. She married the love of her life, Jim Edmiston, on Sept. 1, 1973. Together they moved to Flint in 1977 to continue to raise their blended family.
Janie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister.....exceptional quilter...gardener....diehard football fan...fisherwoman...Sunday School teacher for many years.....
She was a spitfire with a zest for life that could not be squelched and fought pancreatic cancer with all her faith and will and might.
Preceded in death by her father, E. C. "Buddy" Felts and a son, Tony Edmiston. Survivors, Jim Edmiston, sons Jimmy STRICKLAND, Jr., his wife Bobbie and children Justin and Robin DUCK; Marc Edmiston and children, Michael, Dustin, Alan, Brian and Blake; and a daughter, Anna BEAUDIN and children Justin and Samantha. Bennie Paul Ener, 66, of Center died Friday, July 5, 2002 in Beaumont.
Ener was born Sept. 28, 1935 in Pineland as a son of Inez Iler Ener and the late Bennie C. Ener. He had lived in Center six years and was a former longtime resident of Orange. He served as the minister of the Church of Christ in Joaquin.

Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Felts, 47, died at her home Saturday, Ma 28, 2011 after an illness.
She was born in Port Arthur, to Ronnie and Ona Counts Felts. She had lived her life in Hemphill where she worked as a bookkeeper in the medical field. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hemphill.
She is survived by her parents, Ronnie and Ona Felts of Hemphill; daughter, Amber Fowler Smith of Hemphill; son, Kenneth Lee Fowler, III of Milam; brother, Richard Felts of Hemphill; and sister, Angela Wood of Hemphill. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kane, Carmen, Justis and Brayden.

Sarah Elizabeth Felts was born in Conroe on May 4, 1989 to Richard Dean Felts and Andrea Gregory Felts. She was a Senior at Hemphill High School, was a trumpet player and vice-president of Hemphill School Band and was a member of Camp Springs Baptist Church in Hemphill.

Brittany is survived by her father, Alan McDaniel of Hemphill, Texas; mother, Kim Bagwell of Vidor, Texas; daughters, Akadyance Beth Nicole LeBlanc, Kierra Kitty Elizabeth LeBlanc, and Kylee Ann McDaniel; grandparents, Beth and Weldon McDaniel of Hemphill, Texas; brother, Charlie Vice and wife, Randi, of Vidor, Texas; and sisters, Amber Willison and husband, Tryce, of Kirbyville and Sara Beth McDaniel of Hemphill, Texas.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas.
Brittany's funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Oakhill Cemetery.
