Ora Boyett Wilson, 94, of Milam did at 1:59 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Hines Health Care in Pineland.
Born Jun 13, 1902, as a daughter of the late Noah and Mattie (Henderson) Boyett, Mrs. Wilson was a lifelong resident of the Milam area. She was a homemaker and member of the Methodist church.
Survivors: grandchildren, Delayne Griffin and Kevin Palmer, and a daugher-in-law, Johnnie Lou Patty.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating. Interment followed at Joel Halbert Cemetery near Milam.

Burless Benton Boyett
Funeral services for Burless Benton Boyett, 79, of Hemphill were held Saturday, July 23, 1994 at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating. Interment followed at Gravelhill Cemetery in Sabine County.
He died July 21.
Born March 23, 1915, in Gravelhill as a son of the late Nathan D. and Minnie Lee (Conn) Boyett, he had lived in the Houston area several years before returning to Sabine County 14 years ago. He was a retired pipefitter with Humble Oil and was preceded in death by a grandson, Burless Boyett, in 1987.
Survivors: Virginia M. (Newburn) Boyett of Hemphill; two daughters, Maudine Carter of Houston and Pat Boyett of Austin; a son, Mike Boyett of San Augustine; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Could he have had a namesake son or grandson? The January 16, 2013 issue of THE SABINE COUNTY REPORTER included a page 1 article about the new postmaster in Hemphill, Oliver Boyette of San Augustine. He was first employed by the US Postal Service in 1987, being stationed at San Augustine through 2001, then serving as postmaster of Wooden, Brookeland and as interim postmaster in Hemphill. He lives in San Augustine with his wife of 29 years, Nancy, and they have two sons, one of whom also works for the postal service. Born Jan. 22, 1913, in Sabine County, he was the son of Columbus Simon Boyett and Emma Curl. He was retired as a lineman for Deep East Texas Electric Co-Op, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in San Augustine. He had served on the San Augustine City Council, was a member of the Redland Masonic Lodge No. 3 and a past fire chief for San Augustine Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Lucette Neal Boyett of San Augustine; son, Charles Boyett of San Augustine; stepsons, Billy Neal of Nederland and George Neal of Newton; brother, Paul D. Boyett of Almagorda, N.M.; three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Walton is survived by her children, Melvie Brown and husband, Tom, of Lufkin, Connie Baggett and husband, Bob, of Lufkin, Willie Max Walton of Zavalla, Texas, and Jeannie Walton of Huntington; her grandchildren, Brian Edward Brown and wife, Terri Beth, of Lufkin, Terri Lynn Lowe and husband, Stacey, of Lufkin, Tianna Smith and husband, Kelvin, of Lufkin, Blake Kvale and wife, Theresa, of Houston, and Ashley Johnson and husband, Aaron, of Lufkin; fourteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Iva Dell Bush of Center and her brother, Jimmy Boyett of Hemphill.
Mrs. Walton was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Eloy Boyett; her sisters, LaVerne Elliott and Maudine Wallace; stepdaughters, Gwendolyn Boyett and Nancy Chane.
Visitation will be from Noon until 1:30 PM, Sunday, January 3, 2021, in the Starr Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM following visitation in the Rosevine Cemetery, Rosevine, Texas.

LaVerne was born in Milam, Texas on March 29, 1927 to George Boyett and Fannie Gray Boyett. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Chastiti Horne and husband, Tony Houck, of Houston and Chandra Bonine and husband, Jarod, also of Houston; five great grandchildren, Presley Houck, Kate Bonine, Payne Houck, Barrett Houck, and Cullen Bonine; brother, Jimmie Boyett and wife, Wanda, of Hemphill; sisters, Iva Dell Bush of Center and Willa Dean Walton of Lufkin; and son-in-law, Harold Horne.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggie Horne; brother, Eloy Boyett; and sister, Maudine Wallace.
Graveside services will be begin at 2:30 p.m Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Gravel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to services at Starr Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Jimmie Boyett, 90, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Legacies Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hemphill.
Jimmie was born in Milam, Texas on September 6, 1931 to George Boyett and Fannie Gray Boyett. He had served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. After serving in the military, he became a firefighter for the Houston Fire Department. He continued his firefighting career for 31 years earning the rank of District Chief before he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Nance Boyett of Hemphill; daughter, Nena Chance and husband, Glenn, of Hemphill; sister, Iva Dell Doggett of Center; grandchildren, Kyle Knopp and Ashton Daffron; and great grandchildren, Shane, Logan, Daxton, Hagan, Kahlyn, and Savannah.
Graveside services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in Sardis-Edgefield Cemetery in Cherokee County under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.

George is survived by his wife Audrey Boyett of Pineland, his son Gary Boyett of Lufkin, two daughters Vicky Williams and Sherry Boyett both of Pineland. '58 Reunion
The 1958 graduating class of Hemphill High School met on Sept. 14, 2013, at the Hemphill Garden Club Centery for their 55th reunion. The food was catered by Mary Kay's Restaurant in San Augustine. D.R. Boyett, 91, of Buffalo, IL, formerly of Bronson, TX, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
D.R. was born on August 20, 1930 in Milam, TX, the son of Ross and Velma Boyett. D.R. graduated from Hemphill High School in Hemphill, TX. After graduation he entered the U.S. Air Force and served for three years. He always said he had the best job as he drove for the Commanding General for the 20th Air Force. After his release from the Air Force he went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS. He worked there for 17 years and was involved in the Saturn Program. He helped build the tools they needed to work on spaceships to the moon. During this time he met Warner Von Brawn, famous German engineer. At this time he met Rosalie and married and had 4 children. Then decided to move back to East Texas.
After returning to Bronson, TX he went to work for Higginbotham A/C and Heating. His children Bryan, Becki, Rance and Kelley graduated from West Sabine High School.
A change in his life occurred and he then met Sarah and married in 1985. They have been married for 37 years. During this time he became Fire Chief of Bronson Rural VFD for 25 years. He fought many fires and served on many tragic accidents. He was very active in his community. D.R. was a member of Pineland Service Club and a lifetime member of the VFW, and served on the G-M water board and was general manager until someone was found for that position. D.R. was always wanting to help. He and Sarah opened Boyett's Plant Farm. It was a very happy time in their lives. He loved a challenge. Experimenting in growing odd and unusual plants. They got to travel and see new things and bring back to their little nursery.
When the Shuttle fell over East Texas he was very much involved in helping locate the pieces of the craft and also the deceased. He was always helping.
D.R. is survived by his wife: Sarah Boyett of Buffalo, IL; daughter: Becki (Curtis) Boyett of Ocala, FL; sons: Rance Boyett of Seoul, Korea and Kelley (Teresa) Boyett of Bronson, TX; step-children: Linda Ray, David (Darrell) Ray, Larry (Michele) Ray and Janice (Scott) Nicholls; daughter-in-law: Kathy of Charlotte, NC; sisters: Iris Mitchell of Milam, TX and Dorothy (Jim) Boyett of Houston, TX; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Ross and Velma Boyett, son: Bryan Boyett and an infant son.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in East Texas. Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Graveside rites for Selma Boyett Torrence, 72, of Hemphill were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Weaver Cemetery in Newton County with Bro. Wendell Ferguson officiating. Arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill.
She died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1994, at Hemphill Care Center.
Born Nov. 21, 1921 in Sabine County, she was a longtime resident of Beaumont before returning to Sabine County two years ago. She was a Baptist and retired homemaker.
Survivors: a son Jerry L. Bragg of Beaumont; a sister, Loren B. Wood of Hemphill; a brother, Arbie W. Boyett of Hemphill; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Arbie Wesley Boyett, 77, of Route 2, Bronson, died early Tuesday, Jun 10, 2003, in Sabine County. Born Jan. 18, 1926, as a son of the late Hamp H. and Mittie (Weaver) Boyett, he was a longtime resident of Sabine County and retired as a plywood operator of Temple-Inland Forest Products in Pineland. Boyett was a member of the Rosevine Baptist Church. He is survived by a sister, Loren B. Wood of Sabine County; and nieces and nephews, Jerry BRAGG, Terry WOOD, Robin POWELL, Linda BOYETT, Robert BOYETT, and Kenneth BOYETT. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Cliff Durham, pastor of Rosevine Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed at Weaver Cemetery.

Frances Lorene Wood, 93, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at her residence.
Lorene was born in Hemphill on November 3, 1927 to Hamp Boyett and Mittie Weaver Boyett. She had lived in Beaumont where she attended Chenier Business College and earned her Associates Degree. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Wood & Son Motors. She moved back to Sabine County 40 years ago and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hemphill.
Over the years, she helped to organize fundraisers for Alzheimer's Foundation of America and she helped out by volunteering at Twin Lake's Nursing Home. She loved being outdoors and working in her yard and she loved to color her "paintings".
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Wesley Wood, Jr..
She is survived by her longtime best friend and loving companion, Bill Long of Pendleton Harbor; son, Terry Wesley Wood and wife, Cindy, of Beaumont; daughter, Robin Powell and husband, Kelly, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Tiffany Powell and fianc?', Jody Harrison, Jason Hale, Brent Powell and wife, Andrea, Eric Powell, Megan Zimmerman and husband, William, Wesley Wood and wife, Cyrah, and Dylan Wood; and great grandchildren, Isabella, Ellie, Tracen, Layla, Kahl, Brexley, River, and Rowan.
Graveside services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021 in Weaver Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Troy Richardson officiating.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
