    Raymond Girmus, 79, of Lincoln, died October 30, 2009 in Lincoln. He was born 12/5/1929 in Geneva, Neb. to James and Anna (Matejka) Girmus. He was a Freight Car Inspector for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring after 44 years. He attended Capitol City Christian Church, member of George Washington Lodge # 250 A.F & A.M and volunteered at the Northeast ActivAge Center. He enjoyed gardening and playing cards with friends, playing pool at the senior center, but most especially spending time with his grandchildren.
    Family includes: wife, Donna; son and daughter-in-law, David and Laurie Girmus, Omaha; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and David Cleveland, Longview, Texas; grandchildren, Dan, Tim and Neil Girmus, all of Omaha, and Jessica, Eric and Jaelyn Cleveland, all of Longview, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Adolph and Lynette Girmus, Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Bernice Girmus, Crete, Sylvia Girmus, Wilber, and Louise Girmus, Geneva. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed, Frank, Bill, James, Emil, Joe, John and Rudy; and sisters, Mildred Odvody and Helen Koehn.
    Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday (11/3/09) at Capitol City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege St., Lincoln. Pastors Bill Thornton and Rusty Miller, officiating. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday (11/2/09) at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 No. 27th St., Lincoln. Memorials may be given to the church.
