Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Frank Stefan Jirousek was born on 21 Mar 1871 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio; died on 1 Aug 1921 in Cleveland City Cemetery, Cleveland, Liberty County, Texas; was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

    Notes:

Kay Rybak found the following death certificate information for Frank, indexed with last name SIRONSEK. Ohio death certificate 43429, Frank Stefan Jirousek, 50y4m9d;mrd;res.Ward 12 3663 E. 52nd; fa. John Jirousek, b. Kvetov, Cecko-Slovakia; mo Anastazie Turnovsky [sic-wife], informant; Anastazie [wife]; undertaker W. E. Jirousek [bro], 12910 Miles Avenue. [Not viewed by Melinda Strong, unable to find in index].

There appear to have been several Frank Jirousek's in Cleveland during this same time period.

Frank was not still at home as of the 1900 census, but has not yet located as a head of household in 1900.

The 1900 Cleveland City Directory lists two Frank Jirousek's on p. 546:

    Jirousek, Frank lab.r. 38 Svoboda
    Jirousek, Frank lab.r. 54 Pleasant

Along with the Frank Jirousek heading a household in 1910 census consisting of himself, wife Stella, and two children, a still single Frank Jirousek can also be found on the 1910 census:

Ohio, Cuyahoga County, 16-ward Cleveland, ED 241
    Jerousek, Frank Hd M W 23 Single Ohio Aust/Bohemia Aust/Bohemia English Laborer/Automobile

Frank appears to have ded in 1921, as per the following cemetery records:

Id#: 0165256 Name: Jirousek, Frank Date: 1921 Source: Cemetery record; Cleveland Necrology File, Reel #042. Notes: 1871-1921. Calvary Cemetery Cleveland, O.

This also matches the record Kay Rybak cites above, showing he died at age 50, which would have put his year of death in 1921. Franks mother Theresa Beznoska was also interred at the Calvary Cemetery, as was his brother William and sister Rose.

He it appears likely that he died prior to 1929, as his father's obituary stated that "three sons had predeceased him." Additonally, most of his father's adult sons are mentioned later in the 1942 obituary of a sibling, with the exception of Frank, Frederick and Edward.

However, the 1930 census enumeration for Anastasia "Stella" Jirousek and her children still shows a living Frank Jirousek, age 58, as head of household. This may be in error, or maybe the death information should read 1931 versus 1921.

It also appears, from the obituary below, that (a second?) Frank Jirousek lived in Cleveland, and was married to Marie Kus.

Id#: 0561452 Name: Jirousek, Marie Date: Mar 12 1954 Source: Cleveland Press; Cleveland Necrology File, Reel #121. Notes: Jirousek, Marie (nee Kus), beloved wife of the late Frank mother of Hermina, Dorothy Bandlow passed away at her residence, 3438 W. 44 St., sister of the late John and Charles Kus, also Vaclay and Frank of Czechoslovakla. Friends may call at the J. C. Stepanek & Son Funeral Home, corner Clark Ave. and W. 44th St., where services will be held Saturday, Mar 13, at 2 p.m. Interment Riverside Cemetery.

This appears to be the son of Marcel and Eleanora, but as parents names are not shown on the Ancestry transcription of this certificate, this should be verified through other sources.
