    In her annotated transcription of the Myrtle Springs Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary indicates that no dates were given, but suggests dob of Oct 1848 and dod after 1920. She shows her as a daughter of J. D. and Sallie A. Jones.

    At the time of the 1900 Sabine County, Texas census, he lived with his Aunt Martha Oliver Meador and her husband. He was shown as age 23, and appears to have been married to a 22 year old Anna M, born in Texas. Eddie was incorrectly listed as a brother-in-law of James Meador. His parents lived next door. In 1920, he and Anna were living next door to Martha and James Meador.

    Edward married Martha Joanna "Anna" Mitchell before 1900. Martha (daughter of Joe Mitchell and Susan "Sue" Priscilla Drawhorn) was born on 17 Nov 1877 in Texas; died on 27 Jul 1971 in San Augustine County, Texas; was buried in Myrtle Springs Cemetery, Geneva, Sabine County, Texas. In her annotated transcription of the Myrtle Springs Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary shows that his grave was marked with a concrete mount to the right of the marker for Paunee M. SYKES.

    Pawnee Sykes

    Funeral (services) for Pawnee Sykes, 75, of Geneva, were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 10 at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Moss officiating. Burial was at the Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Geneva.

    Ms. Sykes died May 7 at her residence in Geneva. She was born Feb. 14, 1924 in Sabine County to Theodore Oliver and Pearl Horne.

    Mrs. Sykes operated a farming and ranching operation in Geneva. During World War II she was employed with the Aircraft Industry in California. She was also employed as an insulator with a local insulation company and was employed with Rodney Horne Independent postal transportation contractor for several years.

    She was a member of Geneva Baptist Church.

    She is survived by her son, Johnny Ralph Sykes of Geneva.

    Johnnie Ralph Sykes, age 73, of Geneva, passed from this life late Sunday evening, April 30, 2017, in San Augustine. He was born to Pawnee (Oliver) Sykes and Johnnie Sykes on June 2, 1943, in California.

    Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas 75972. Rev. Martin Doran will officate, with visitation Tuesday evening, May 2, 2017, from the hours of 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Sabine County.

    Johnny was well loved in the Geneva Commmunity and San Augustine, and often was found visiting on the phone. He was disabled having epilepsy and had lived with his beloved Mother, Pawnee, his entire life until she predeceased him in 1999. He attended McMahon Chapel Methodist Church in Sabine County.

    He is survived by numeorus cousins and friends.

    He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Pawnee (Oliver) Sykes and Johnnie Sykes.
